What games are you playing?

So I bought Bound by Flame for cheap but unfortunately it is really quite bad. I enjoyed a lot of games that got bad critics in the past and hoped for something unploished but still atmospheric like Lords of the Fallen.

I decided to pick up Infamous again and play it. It really isn't my style of store/game, but for some reason it really grabbed me the first time I played it. I'm more of the Ratchet and Clank or Skyrim player, but Infamous is good.

Ha! I just picked up Skyrim again this week for the first time in 5 years. I wish I had a rig good enough to play next month's release, all remastered Skyrim Special Edition. Ironically I bought this PC specifically to run Skyrim in 2011. It's more fun this time around with the unofficial bug fixes from the modding community.

Skyrim is sort of my go-to game when I am bored and need something to do. It helps me get my mind into a fantasy mode for writing.

I've been rocking through Monster Hunter Generations for a good bit now, and am still nowhere near the end game thanks to its weird game progression. But I love the heck out of it. Time can become irrelevant when I'm zoned into fighting a larger than life monster. Thumbs up.
I've also been going through Enter the Gungeon, a badass indie game all about guns, and the latest Guilty Gear, Guilty Gear Xrd. I suck at Gungeon, but its an addicting game. Guilty Gear is a great game. Not only nostalgic to me, but the fighting is supremely improved and the graphics are top notch--the game looks incredible. I honestly only play video games about 2 days out of the week, but I game ALL DAY for those days.

I just got the brand-new DragonQuest VII on 3DS. It looks fun, but will have to wait. My head and heart are in Skyrim now. I'm a one-game woman, I don't game around. ;)

I hope you'll like Dragon Quest VII. I'm interested in the game myself. I've dropped a hint about it becoming a birthday present, so we'll have to see if I get it. If not, I might buy it for myself. I've read a lot of good things about the game, and some negative points as well. Skyrim is a great game, I enjoyed playing that, though I didn't actually finish it (but, that happens to me a lot).

I don't play a lot of video games nowadays anymore (because they make me tired), but recently I've been playing bits of Stardew Valley, which is inspired by games like Harvest Moon. I've never actually played Harvest Moon, but so far I'm liking Stardew Valley.

Thanks for mentioning Stardew Valley. It sounds like fun to me, sort of Harvest Moon and Terrarria. I love to start farming games like that, but I come to flee from them once the time-management crunch starts stressing me out or preventing me from exploring. I bailed on Harvest Moon because there was too much to do in a day, with no time to interact with npcs, and also because at a certain point you could become ridiculously wealthy by doing one thing over and over, which was no longer fun. (I start out checking online discussions when I get stuck, but then get pulled into other people's obsessions with completion and their tricks.) It sounds like Stardew opens up a lot of ways to get involved in the little town and gathering materials and crafting, but I have to wonder, do you find that the game gives you time to enjoy those, while you're trying to keep your livestock and crops alive?

You're welcome :). I feel in Stardew Valley you generally have enough time to enjoy doing all those things. Of course, I have no experience with Harvest Moon, but once I've watered my crops in the morning (I can't have great sprinklers yet), there is plenty of time left in the day to do other things. Sometimes I go and chop a lot of wood and clear stones, sometimes I go into the mines, sometimes I do quests for the villagers, sometimes I go foraging, sometimes there is a festival. You can also do fishing but I haven't done much of that yet personally.

I don't have any lifestock yet, but my boyfriend is also playing the game, and he does. He's played it a lot more than I have, he's quite far into it (he has a lot of things). Livestock doesn't seem to take him tons of time either (though it should be said he has an automatic hay dispenser, that might make a difference.).

I feel the game has a pretty good balance between everything. It makes sense about becoming ridiculously weathy by using tricks in Harvest Moon. I haven't read any discussions on Stardew Valley so I don't know how it works with that. I have read parts of the Wiki, it's a nice source of information if you're wondering how something works (though it can also spoil bits of game mechanics if you don't want to know lots of things yet and prefer more things to stay a mystery).

Been playing Microsoft Flight Simulator with a VR headset and Leap Motion hand tracking. Pretty neat, except the game keeps seeing my hands on my real joystick and thinking I'm trying to turn the in-game yoke, because the joystick is roughly where the yoke would be. I need to fix the settings so I don't keep crashing the plane as a result :).

You really got me started on this game...I can't seem to think of anything else, LOL.

That sounds amazing! I'd love to get a peek at VR someday.

Yeah, I think VR is going to take over the simulation gaming market in the next few years. I can't imagine playing flying or driving games any other way now, unless I had the money to build a complete replica car or cockpit with multiple screens.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it so much :). I think about the game a lot too, I feel it's the kind of game that just sticks in your head and makes you think about what you're going to do next in it.

I started playing Skyrim for the first time over the weekend - been trying to find a game to invest in for a while and it was either this or Fallout 3, the consensus being that Skyrim was the better choice. I've had the lurgy so been sat at home playing it over the weekend, and in the evenings this week after work. I've sank nearly 20 hours in already and fear this is only the beginning! However, after playing around for a while I decided to re-start with better idea of what I need to do, which was fine, until I then discovered that I'll be able to get a free upgrade to the special edition this weekend - and I'm pretty sure that my PC will run it at decent settings. So, now trying to decide whether to keep on messing around over the next few evenings or not before re-starting it on Friday night/Saturday in the enhanced version.

I believe they've said that existing, unmodded savegames will work with the enhanced version. Mods will take quite a while to port over. so I'll be stuck with the original Skyrim for some time.

Though I've been too busy flying around Antarctica in FSX lately to have time for Skyrim :).

I've heard that too, but nobody seems to be able to give a definitive answer - just a 'it should work'. I've not played enough of it to cause starting again to be a massive issue, so taken a step back until tomorrow evening when I can get to it.

I just copied my old (unmodded) saves from the Skyrim directory to the SE directory, and was able to load them.

Interesting part is that the game auto-configured to Ultra and still seems to perform better on my PC (i7-3770 and GTX970) than the original Skyrim did. Doesn't yet work in VR, though.

Saw that news once it was released, which is good, but I started a new save anyway! My settings are at ultra too, which surprised me as I thought I'd just scrape in with it (i5-2400 3.1ghz, GTX 750ti).

I decided to check out Tyranny. Hope it will be as good as old RPG-s from 90-th.
