What games are you playing?

I wish so much I could be playing Kingdom Hearts or Wipeout right now. I know that if I delve back into that world I'd never find my way out again.

I started a new Wizardry 7: Crusaders of the Dark Savant play-through about a week ago. I played it almost to the end once before, in 1992 when the game was new and shiny. I considered it my favorite PC RPG up to that date at the time, and still think fondly of it. It shows its age, but once reacquainted with some of the basics (not a simple task) it started to draw me in as of old. Just this morning I did my first profession change, turning my Dwarf Fighter into a Lord, which in addition to the melee combat he's long been proficient at gives him the Diplomat skill and allows him to cast Priest spells. (At the moment he's capable of only a few spells, at their weakest casting levels.) The group has traveled to Orkogre and fought many a challenging battle in their quest to deliver a message to the King of the Gorns. The battles are a highlight of the game imo. They'd better be. You sure fight a lot of 'em. And I do mean a lot. The game demands much from the player, which I find refreshing, though I'm not always up to the task. At 66, my mind just isn't as able to stay focused on all that must be done and remembered as it was those 25 years ago. Or so I tell myself then things go poorly.

Oh. I'm playing the DOS version rather than the later Gold edition, the former often being considered the better of the two.

In 1978 I worked on the apple ][ version of Wizardry 1 Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord (written in Pascal and provided on cassette tape in the early testing) with werdna and trebor (Andrew and Robert) when SirTech got off the ground; and I was a QA tester for them right through to Wiz 6 early alpha when restructuring caused cutbacks in QA. Happy memories of most of it....

Recently started to play Morrowind. Liked it! There are many sidequests. Really enjoy it!

Good choice. I consider all other Elder Scrolls games inferior to Morrowind. Morrowind have a lot to offer in terms of atmosphere and art style.

Thanks! Yes, completely agree!!! Really enjoy it, hopefully, I will enjoy still in few weeks. I am kind of person who usually starts to become bored quite quickly even if the game is cool. Let's see :D:rolleyes:

A friend of mine is letting me borrow his Wii U so I can play Breath of the Wild and few other titles I've not touched before. BOTW is pretty amazing, if I do say so myself. Yes, there are mechanics that I could do without, but those mechanics don't take away from the gameplay in the slightest. The story is long, the world is expansively huge, and the characters are surprisingly deep when they show up. I've not been so won over by a Zelda game since the Super Nintendo.
Another game I've trying out is Bayonetta 1 and 2. Those games are weird as fuzz. Weird. As. Fuzz. Platinum Games knows how to make some balls-to-the-wall action games, but this is so over the top the developers seem to be making fun of themselves. At no point does Bayonetta delivery itself in a half-assed way. This game knows what it is; a completely over the top, insanely unrealistic action game that follows a half-naked seductive witch as she kills angels. The story is so convoluted I defy anyone to iron it out entirely. And yet... I find myself drawn back again and again. The characters are endearing and hilarious. The animation is gorgeous for an old game. And the gameplay... is whack. Though you have to be a certain type of person to enjoy the Bayonetta games, they're not bad.

Breath of the Wild is soul-sucking. I have been playing non-stop at the behest of other more important (objectively) things.
The art is beautiful, the puzzles are so stimulating, the environments are great and varied, the characters are rich and interesting, the combat is difficult enough to frustrate but easy enough when you are thoughtful and prepared for it.

And the size of the game. Dear god, the size of the game. This world Nintendo has created is massive.

Anyone here played the Titanfall 2 single-player campaign? I'm not so much a huge FPS multiplayer player myself, but I was drawn in by their mech warfare gameplay. Don't get me wrong, but I had a blast playing through the campaign myself. Had great pacing, satisfying combat and controls, and not to mention, mech gameplay that felt rewarding? Titanfall 2's one of my inspirations for my current book I'm writing this year.

Haven't had the chance to play it ! What inspired you most about it ? The gameplay itself or the art design or even the politics of it all ?

Is it a short campaign ? Could I rent it, you think ?

Pretty much the gameplay and art design for the most part, because I'm a huge fan of most sci-fi things that involve cool mecha. It's a short campaign that you can play within several hours, but believe me, it will be a really entertaining experience for you. I think you'll like the campaign for what it is, so give it a rent! Trust me. *wink wink*

Those must have been interesting times! I've not played those earlier Wizardry entries, though I do own Wiz6, having bought it as a combo with Wiz7 off GoG.

I'm on something of gaming break at the moment, beginning when my long-running TES:Oblivion play-through (over 2k hrs) began black-screening too frequently to make play worthwhile. I might have resolved that problem yesterday but am fearful of beginning an expended play session and being proved wrong. I keep saying I'm gonna fire up the game and give it a go, only to chicken out. For now I content myself trying to combine/simplify the far too numerous individual texture replacement BAIN packages in my Oblivion Wrye Bash Installers Directory. It's a project I've put off too long. I'm now no more than a few hours hard (?) work away from putting the worst of the mess in better order. Assuming I got it right, that is. Considering the shape things were in that's not a given. (No, this has nothing to do with those Black Screens. Wrye Bash has no trouble contending with my sloppy Package scheme. It's me that gets confused.)

Just recently bought a set of Heroes of Might and Magic to relive my teen years, but I keep resorting to Sims 2 and GTA San Andreas as my zone-out games. Lately it seems like if a game involves mental energy at all, I can't work up the will to invest time in it. I am interested in finding something new and compelling ,though. The last game that came close was Mafia 2.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 was one of my first games on my new lime green iMac back in 2000. That and Douglas Adams' Titantic :) Happy times!

My intro was Heroes 2 -- someone gave me the game disc (along with Starcraft) and I spent/wasted many happy hours with it. The disc stopped working years ago, but recently I stumbled across a let's play for HoMM2 and got nostalgic.

I've been replaying Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. For some reason, I tend to prefer older games to most modern stuff. KOTOR is a pretty good RPG -- interesting characters, a lot of dialogue choices, a twist that doesn't feel cheap, and you get to do fun things like choosing your own lightsaber colour.
