What's the last movie you watched (2010)?

Saw Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Favorite movie of the ones I've seen this year. Much better than I was expecting. Much better than the reviews I've seen are giving it credit for. Nothing particularly different from what one might expect but solid and enjoyable despite the video game premise and some painful anachronisms slipping through. Offhand I cannot think of a better looking movie depicting the chosen place and time period. It's the kind of movie that makes fools of pompous reviewers showing how out of touch they are.

Astro Zombies See John Carradine push switches! Hear John Carradine talk total waffle! See machete wielding Astro-zombies in corduroy jackets! Yay! I love Astro Zombies. It's got everything - and makes no sense whatsoever.

Last weekend I saw Iron Man 2 and really enjoyed it. The first one was a lot to live up to for the sequel, but I enjoyed the heck out of the movie.

This past weekend, we saw Robin Hood and thought that was very enjoyable, too. Was it Scott's best move? No. But I thought the cast was pretty good and the story worked for me.

It's getting to where I'm always glad to see two people in particular who were in Robin Hood. The guy who played Little John (massive maul for the win!) and the guy who played Godfrey.

Yes and yes - Kevin Durand is good and I loved the smarmy way he portrayed the side-flash version of Keamy in Lost. Mark Strong is terrific, too - I really liked him in Body of Lies and Sherlock Holmes and I'm looking forward to seeing him play Sinestro in next year's Green Lantern movie.

I tried to watch Time Bandits, but it just didn't hold my interest
What!!!??

Right, here's what you do. Take a crash course of really crappy movies for a week - two a day should do it - and then go back and look at it again.

But then, who am I to give advice? Tonight I 'enjoyed' the delights of Android Apocalypse . Hoo boy!

Just watched Star Trek 11.

Hm. Mixed thoughts, but overall positive. If it wasn't Star Trek, but everything was the same (let's say Star Trek didn't exist), then I think it would have been a good sci-fi movie that was a bit lacking in explanation at times.

But as it was Star Trek, and the original, I think it was quite good. Whilst it took a lot of inspiration from the original series (including slightly hammed up fight scenes), I think it added enough new stuff to stop it looking like it was trying to be the original series. The actors had very big shoes to fill and I think they all did an admirable job. Zach Quinto looked brilliant as Spock, and he played it very well - You knew it was Spock, albeit a very naive, younger Spock.

Would definately recommend it to Trekkies who haven't seen it. Whilst I'm fairly unversed in Star Trek, there were enough references (Pike, for example) to show it's a true Star Trek film and not simply a reboot/reimagining like Michael Bay's Transformer films.

Just got back from viewing Splice. I really enjoyed it. There are some uncomfortable scenes toward the end, but I felt it was decent overall. I loved Dren. ;)

Knowing - Dir. Alex Proyas

The first hour is pretty good but after that it just falls to bits in front of your eyes and ends up as splodgy mawkish plotless pointless mess.

The Hurt Locker - It was super good. I loved it. Very intense and dramatic. I felt like I was holding my breath through most of it.

Saw The A-Team. A rollicking movie. Lots of action and gags. Maybe a bit too frenetic at times. Most action sequences are a bit too over-the-top and a couple afflicted with so much shaky cam they are barely coherent. On the other hand the idea behind a couple of them are outrageously creative. Sharlto Copley almost steals the show with his craziness but Liam's resoluteness manages to play well in contrast to it with everyone else hamming it up. Good fun.

Finally saw The Book of Eli followed closely by watching The Road. I was in a post-apocalyptic mood I guess. I thought The Book of Eli was great. Made me think about how much I take things for granted as that was one of the themes. Plus the action wasn't too bad either.

I thought the movie, The Road, actually improved a bit on the book in some places. I enjoyed the ending a bit better and thought it was more meaningful than the somewhat abrupt ending in the book. Not that it was completely different.

Saw A-team as well and I was surprised as to how good it was. My only complaint is Neelson. He just didn't work as Hannibal to me, otherwise it was a great movie.

Do you agree with Mr T that it just isn't the A-Team of yore, though?

I've not seen it so I can't say.

Behind the times but Law Abiding Citizen.

Thought it was great right up until the end. Just felt like they rushed the climax. Plus given how capable GB's character was supposed to be, does anyone really think he wouldn't have booby trapped the bomb?

It is definitely a different A Team but it works. My issue with Neeson is that he would at times slip into his UK accent which made it difficult to believe he was in the US military.

Beyond that it was a just like old school A Team only on the big screen. I didn't have high hopes for the film but by the end found myself completely satisfied and entertained. I didn't go into it think it was Academy Award material but thought that as a remake it would bomb. I came out pleasantly surprised. Great popcorn flick regardless of what Mr. T. has to say. I think he is just angry because he did not receive a cameo appearance.

I agree if felt rushed, but I think the writers painted themselves into a corner with the premise. They needed a way to end the movie that had the law winning. So the bomb wasn't altered which in real life would have been more than likely tamper resistant.

Another entertaining movie.

A bit like Lee Roth (I think) in The Incredible Hulk? To be honest, that ruined it a bit for me.

Hm. I'll have to see it, well, I would have regardless. This is what I mean about him not liking it.

Yeah, I saw his interview, I think he is made because he was not asked to be in it. I don't recall any sex in it and it is no more violent then the show was.

As for Tim Roth in the Hulk, the whole idea of the character was a bit skewed. They didn't know how to get a Soviet into the story so that is the hybrid they came up with. It was a roll your eyes moment and his accent peaked out at times so I know what you mean.

Daybreakers - I found myself enjoying this, it was at times (mostly the ending and Dafoe's character) sadly B-movie material, but inbetween there were sparks of an interesting story. I think if the world had been a little deeper and the conflict a little wider it could have been very good, but I doubt they had the budget or running time for such an expansion.
