Hi all, just joined, and... well... I just want to say how happy I am to be here and that, I'm really looking forward to talking with each and every one of you and .... WAIT!!!! This ISN'T my therapy class for too much joy from too much joy! No wonder you guys are looking at me like I'm a freak.

Anyhooo,
my cast picks are as follows:
Zedd: Robin Williams or Billy Crystal(tho Chris Lloyd is good to) or even Alan Rickman
Kahlan: Catherine Zeta-Jones or Salma Hayek
Richard: me of course, or Heath Ledger, Val Kilmer?
Darken Rahl: bad guy from the Patriot and Harry Potter, Jason Isaacs I think his name is.
Denim Nass: The Rock

... and that's all I got to say about that
 
Don't ask me why, but when I read the book about 5 years ago, I could only picture Khalan as Gwyneth Paltrow, the whole time I was reading the book and the rest of the series. I'm not even a big Gwyneth fan, but for some reason she was just Khalan in my head. Obviously a bit tougher though.
 
I think Denna could be pulled off by Eliza Dushku. She can play evil with such fervor it's scary.

I like the idea of Eliza as Denna, that might actually work. Though somehow I pictured Denna to be taller though.... Would that make Sarah Michelle Cara then???? :D

Richard.... um Heath Ledger MIGHT be okay but maybe not.... he does have the right face shape though.....I don't know

Zedd? There are so many great actors....can't choose

You know something in a weird way Colin Farrel might make an alright Darken Rahl - strange, though his face shape isn't quite right...

I think Liv Tyler would make a good Kahlan. Or how about Jessica Biel? I cannot picture Selma as Kahlan whatsoever. As for Richard, I think Kyle Chandler from that show <i>Early Edition</i> would be a decent choice. For Darken Rahl, I kept picturing the evil prince from <i>Dragon Heart</i>, but he's not really "the most handsome guy ever." I can't really pin anyone down for Zedd. But definitely not Al Pacino. That's just nuts. I like Eliza Dushku for Denna; that's not bad. The Rock would definitely make a good Denim Nass. What about Adie? Glen Close?

I agree with Jason Isaacs as Darken Rahl, though I think Russel Crowe should play Richard. Kahlan could be played by either Salma Hayek or Penelope Cruz, Denna by Famke Janssen, and Zedd by Robin Williams
 
Well

I would Love to see Terry Goodkind book turned to Movies. I've never read fantasy book be for but I had a need to vencher off to a far land, I'm in the Navy and had we were out to sea for a very long while a Mr. Goodkind took me away to a place beyond this ship. If you make a movie and you need a cast I would play any part just to be a part of Goodkind world I've come so accustom to.
 
Like I mentioned earlier, I always saw slightly tougher Gwyneth Paltrow as Kahlan...

How about Eric Bana as Richard, the guy from Hulk and Troy and other good roles...?

Hi this is Trekkin Dan I am a first time user but a huge fan of Goodkind and overall fantasy.
I have thought long and hard about who would would do the characters justice on screen.

I love Russel Crowe in Gladiator but I also like Eric Bana from Troy. They need some body incredible with a sword. "Dance of Death" come on.
Hugh Jackman did a great job for X-men he is a good possiblity
It also would be good if he was a young no name.

For Kahlan- Exotice Beauty with Dark brown hair. Catherine Zeta Jones?

Zedd - Anthony Hopkins with frazzled hair
Or even JOhn Ravies(gimli)
Darken Rahl- a Natural blonde I would say a german because thats how I always pictured him- The bad guy for Patriot and Harry Potter-Lucios Mayfoly.

I pictured Kahlan as Angelina Jolie with a more narrow jaw line. She always has a very stern, witty, playful, dangerous or "deep in thought" look. She's also not clumsy with choreographed martial arts like a lot of female actresses are, which is a plus. I hate movies where the girl is like "oh my"..then backhands the opponent, who happens to fall like he/she just got an uppercut from Tyson. Kahlan needs to be played by someone with good hand-eye coordination at the very least. I can't picture Selma Heyek; she's TOO Latino (which doesn't fit the role, I'm not a racist). Penelope Cruz is too skinny; could you imagine all of the books being made into movies, and when it get's to Faith Of The Fallen, she has to lose MORE weight to match Nicci? It would be funny though.

That's dead on. He would make a great Darken Rahl.

Christopher Lloyd would make a great Zed, no doubt about it.
As someone else said, The Rock would be great for Chase...especially with that eyebrow thing he does.

I haven't really thought too much about the other characters.
 
I believe that a SOT movie would be a bad idea! Movies RUIN books. I cannot read LOTR because of that stupid movie! :mad:

Anyways, On PI we've had huge discussions on this topic. You're right, the book is too long to make into a film it seems. Even if it were the right length though, I still wouldn't like a movie on it. How many people saw LotR without reading the books? Even worse, how many of them went on thinking they knew everything there was to know about LotR? Many, and it gets to us all I think. My opinion on this is the same is that on making a replica of the Sword of Truth, I hope it never happens.

Darken Rahl-Jason Isaacs would be an awesome choice (although, in Stone of Tears, it is mentioned that Richard does have a resemblance to Darken Rahl, especially the eyes. So whoever played Richard would have to look at least kind of like him.)
Kahlaan-Can't picture Cruz or Jolie in that role. Can't really picture anyone for that matter.

For later books:

Someone mentioned the Rock as Chase? That part needs someone who can act. Maybe the Rock could play Ulic of Egan, Lord Rahl's personal guards.
Sister Verna-Don't remember her name, but she played Nurse Ratchet (or however you spell that name) in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Kai Winn on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Cara-Hudson Leike (Callisto on Xena: Warrior Princess)
 
i agree i dont want it to be a movie. for the few of us that like it i have put this book on a high pedistal. i would hate for the movie not to live up to the high regards i/we have for the book. dont get me wrong i would love to see it as a movie but i just dont think it will live up to how good the book is.
 
My Point Of View

Wow no offense but ive never been so dissapointed in the choices for the cast in this movie until now. i love the sword of truth and sadly i am a learning director and hoped to be the one to make the films, my mind is always bringing knew and wonderful ideas for lighting and camera position, music and all for such a film but most of all the ideas for the cast.
Zeddicus Zul Zorander would of course have to be christopher loyd, just thinking of him saying bags richards makes me laugh cuz he would be perfect.
russel crowe as richard, to me thats a last resort, from what ive learned is that new unheard actors or less famous acors are better for fantasy movies.
Richard Rahl for me would be Brad Johnsone from a t.v. show called Riverworld http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0424635/ to see wat he looks like, he has the perfect build, the eyes the jaw, everything.and he know how to use a sword ( YES )
Kahlan im not to sure about i thought jessica alba because shes got the lips for it but then again she cant act worth *&^#. Olivia Williams is my pick, she has the most beautiful smile ive ever seen and is also beautiful in general, but what makes her perfect is her smile, the one thing that richard cant get enough of ( her special smile)
I have seen the perfect Darken Rahl but sadly only for 5 minutes and hes not an actor, Christian Bale from Batman Begins Would be a very good choice, he prooved this in american psyco, i mean hes got the looks, the body the height and especially that crazy looks in his eyes.
For Richards old freind Chase it would be russelle crow, hes not a richard kind of character.
as for the lovely but brutal cara i could see so many choices but my favorite is Ali Larter, she is hot but not the hottest but that doesnt matter to me she has the baddass attitude and the pissed off face that makes her perfect for the part. i could go on but these are just some of my choices and i hope youll agree

Olivia Williams as Kahlan - she couldn't even pick up a sword, much less swing it in battle. I don't see it.

Brad Johnson would be an alright choice for Richard. He looks the part anyway.
 
Forget Christian Bale as Darken Rahl.. he'd be the perfect choice for Richard.
 
I like the idea about a movie for Sot but for the few people who actually like terry goodkind/ Sot I don't think it will live up to the expectation of the book .

but I don't care who was in it or directs it I would pay to see .
