I just got rejected by Beneath Ceaseless Skies. The editor said the opening of my story didn't work for them. I will adjust and send back out! Not sure where though...will have to look at Duotrope...

That's good though, to get something like that from BCS, right?
I just saw this.
[valley-girl inflection]What?[/valley-girl inflection]
No, uh, I don't think the rejection meant it was good... But thank you for your encouragement. For better or worse, it keeps me going.
So, I have not submitted a single story this month. I don't feel quite right not having slung my drivel on a poor, unsuspecting editor yet. I will try to find something to submit before the month is out.![]()
And it also means that you didn't get a form rejection, which is also a good thing.
I submitted my (terrible) story (that got this thread started) to Lakeside Circus. Charlotte mentioned them in another thread and I thought, why not?
One consolation, Charlotte: the story is short. You all won't suffer for long.![]()
Eek! The stories are blinded, so I won't know which it is - hopefully I am nice to it!
Yes, my favourite thing about Lakeside so far is the 2500-word limit. Someone sent in a 3600-word story and I was pleased that I didn't even have to open it!
Taking my chances with BCS! This story has been rejected 4 times now, but three of those times it was held for second round consideration and/or I got a very nice personal rejection. So my hopes are high, which will get me a coffee, along with $1.95.
Ahahaha... oh god, the badge of shame...
Ha! Wear it with pride, baby!
Actually, I think I need to be wearing that badge...right smack in the middle of my forehead.
Don't worry, my dear, this, too, will pass. (Isn't that a quote from something?)
I WILL where it with pride!![]()
EDIT:according we'll all have to where it now.
Stay strong, Charlotte. You are a great writer.
