DGLA large imageThis year sees the sixth running of the David Gemmell Awards for Fantasy, and readers and book lovers are now invited to vote on the longlist selections for three categories of award – the Legend Award for Best Fantasy Novel, the Morningstar Award for Best Fantasy Debut and the Ravenheart Award for Best Fantasy Cover Art.

The Legend Award is one of the most prestigious prizes in fantasy fiction, and will be hotly contested this year with over forty nominees for the longlist, including books by renowned fantasy authors from around the world including Robin Hobb, Raymond E Feist, Brandon Sanderson, LE Modessit Jr and Scott Lynch, as well as titles from a host of established and upcoming names from the UK fantasy scene including Mark Charan Newton, Elspeth Cooper, Adrian Tchaikovsky and Francis Knight.

The Morningstar Award features six superb fantasy debuts from the last year, while the Ravenheart Award is also fiercely competitive, with more than thirty superb artworks up for the prize. Voting for all three awards closes at 23:59 on the 13th April, and the shortlist nominees will be decided entirely by public vote, with the final prizes awarded at the Gemmells ceremony on 13th June.

Stan Nicholls, Chair for the Gemmell Awards committee, said: ‘Each year we are blown away by the range of titles up for the awards, which give a great cross-section of just how good modern fantasy fiction and artwork is. Anything that comes through such strong longlists onto the final shortlists would undoubtedly be a worthy winner.’
