DYING EARTHS – the 2019 SFFWorld anthology

Just when you thought that the world was about to end without delivering something good to read as it all comes crashing down, good news: the latest SFFWorld.com anthology has finally been published!

DYING EARTHS contains sixteen stories of fantastic, horrific, or scientifical fiction penned by both forum members and authors from further afield, all of whom interpret our theme more or less according to two traditional perspectives.

Headlining from within local ranks is Matthew Hughes, a journeyman professional whose fantasy writing career has long championed the Dying Earth sub-genre, delving into an ancient future of humanity in which science has segued back into magic and was first popularized by the great Jack Vance. And leading the line of our more disaster-oriented approaches is Sue Burke, author of the multiple award-nominated “Semiosis” and this year’s sequel, “Interference”, who brings us a trademark tale of mortal conflict between flora and fauna in a world close to ruined by mankind’s short-sighted activities.

Joining Matt and Sue we have fourteen other authors from around the globe, some familiar faces from previous anthologies and others new to the series: we welcome the return of P.J. Richards, Daniel Ausema, Jez Patterson, Jeremy Megargee, N.E. White, and Andrew Leon Hudson, and are delighted to introduce James Maxstadt, Lena Ng, George Bradley, Shana Scott, Christopher Stanley, Jude Reid, Scott J. Couturier, and Kat Pekin to the project.

DYING EARTHS is out now on ebook from Amazon, but it will also be available as print-on-demand paperback early in the new year. We hope you enjoy a collection of stories that present fates from the optimistic to the deeply dire – and, while the world burns, let us also wish you a very Merry Xmas!
