Wizard's First Rule....the Film?

someone to play zedd

hey guy i think the guy from the back to the future movies the old guy would make a great zedd he has that goofy attitude and can get pretty pissed off at some times and hes a pretty god actor i think he would make a gret zedd

yeyeye I think we all want him to be Zedd. He is crazy. But still. Zedd in "reality" is very skinny person. I don't think "Doc" in Back to the Future will do the job if he has to be skinny. Not many actors would accept that. So the best would be to find one that looks like him, a liitle crazy as Doc, and is skinny. AND can act very good.

Well Well, Ethan Hunt ... you have yourself a Mission Impossible #4 ; to find the "real" Zedd in this world ... if he exist, that is.

Hmmm... maybe a crazy thought but James Woods maybe fit to play Zedd. He is kinda crazy. Can have a very firmly look. And act tremendously good. I think his voice would fit Zedd, hehe. He is not 'enough' skinny, though. But more than 'Doc'.

I think that Sean Astin should play Micheal Cypher...

i always imagined him like someone who was skinny and a bit crazed someone like .... let me think..... k im serious just think of him with black hair : leonardo decapreo ? or w.e his name is if hes still alive he would be perfect.

They're doing it

According to Goodkind's web site it's going to be a TV mini series. That's the only way for them to fit in all the story.

Mini Series

So, My friends and I (I got them hooked on the books a few month ago and they love it) have discussed the situation of The Book becomeing a TV MIni Series and we thought it was one of the best options. Firstly, we don't need to sit in a theater for 7 hours to watch a film where they tried not to cut too much out of, and second, they can now take 7 or 8 hours and fit EVERYTHING into it, without cutting out sometihng crucial like they did iin other books that turned into films (Eg: Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings).

So, the mini series idea is good. But I'm still worried about the actors...

...maybe they can show each part in theaters... :p

Like many people I also thought no actress could ever truly fit my image of Kahlan. Then some random poster linked a picture to a little known actress by the name of Lauren Cohan and I was stunned. Shes almost exactly what I pictured Kahlan to be.

Granted no one can really ever fit your mental picture of what Kahlan looks like but to me this is as close as you can get.

i dont agree

i think it has to be a movie, so that it isnt really low budget , they should make the movie go up to the part were he just meets or just kills denna

I know what you meant that a bigger budget would result in a better production. While the quality of what we see on the screen may be better, the quality of the story would suffer. These books are just to large to cut minor things out and be able to make it a 3 hour movie

Hi. New here, but not knew to the books. I've spent a good portion of today reading this forum, so thanks for the entertainment and now I'm way behind on all my work :)

Anyway, the cast suggestions are great on here. My one suggestion (so far) is that I see Evangeline Lilly from Lost as Kahlan. Especially over Emily Rossum.

Again, thanks for the entertainment.

Location, location, location.

So, I've been trying to find out as much as I can about the filming, auditions and all that stuff. Nothings official, but auditions are to be in places like theaters and public libraries, and those kind of places, the usual places. But the actual FILMING of the film is to be filmed, wait for it, wait for it, wait wait.... NEW ZEALAND!!!! omg eh? It was great for LOTR and now those beautiful locations will be used for SOT!!! new zealand has a variety of landscapes, and i don't think they could have picked a better place! :D Though, thats only a rumor, so maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

Personally I think that if they're gonna do a WFR movie, they aught to stop with that one, since it can easily be re-written to be self-contained not to mention that it's really the best in the series. Stone of Tears was good as well, but all the following ones sucked.

That said, here's who I think the cast should be:

Wizard's First Rule
Jared Padalecki as Richard Cypher
Evangeline Lilly as Kahlan Ahmnel
John Cleese as Zeddicus "Zedd" Z'ul Zorander
Vladimir Kulich as Darken Rahl
Ron Perlman as Dell "Chase" Brandstone
Lucy Lawless as Denna
Monica Bellucci as Shota
Eileen Atkins as Addie
Wes Studi as The Bird Man
Magnus Sammuelsson as Demmin Nass
Sean Astin as Michael Cypher

The rest can be played by unknowns/little knowns.

Hi everyone!!!!

I'm also new here. but not new to the series as Asha Blue said. I was almost ecstatic when I heard that the "Wizard's First Rule" is being filmed. But then I got worried of what it will look like.

Mini series is ok, because it's true that all of it would never fit into a film... But I just hope that this doesn't mean it's going to be some low budget s**t (excuse my expresion).

I'm a little bit sceptical because I was looking forward to LOTR (a childhood love) and I was so dissapointed when they were finally released. Special effects aso are great, but some actors were a complete disaster and the way they changed the story... I think Tolkien was turning in his grave.

Goodkind is alive, so he can prevent stuff like changing the storyline, but that doesn't mean that it will be the way we all imagined when we read the book. As I figured all of your expectations are as high as mine.

As for casting... We had that discussion a few years ago. And although we found suitable actors for many roles, we couldn't find anyone good enough for Kahlan and Richard.

We also thought that Monica Bellucci would be excellent Shota. We saw maybe Donald Sutherland as Zed, Bridget Moynahan as Denna and I really can't remember the rest right now.

hello people, im russian so i want to say sorry for my tarrible english. i just want to say some ideas for cast. it is really difficult to find right people for this muvie but for me

Kahlen: maybe Kira Nightly
Richard: maybe Hit Ledger from the muvie "10 thing which i hate about you", "or a knights tale"or maybe not faumos actor but really hot!!!
Darken Rahl: Jason Isaacs , from "Harry Potter" ( lucius Malfoy)
Denna: Angelina Golie

this is my ideas for cast. tell me what do you think about that? and dont forget that Sem Raimi cant take so many stars, and that Richard Supposed to be about 23 and Kahlen about 20

im new here, but i think that mini -series is not such a good idea. i thought that it will be like a "Harry potter" or "the lord of the ring":( and peole dont forget that hte Kahlen and Richard must be yang, but u gays thinkig about Monica Bellucci for Kahlen? but this actris is about 40!!!!

The mini series is a good idea the books are too big to be played out all at once to make a decent film from one book they'd have to be seperate movies the mini series makes perfect sense because then you don't have to condense everything
