What's the last movie you watched (2010)?

Just watched The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo on DVD. It was streamlined and simplified but all-in-all a fairly faithful reporduction of the book. It was quite possibly deserving of the praise lathered all over the box.

I am concerned, however, about the American "remake" coming out next year. Firstly, it's completely unnecessary. Secondly, is anyone seriously expecting good things from it?

I watched Tango and Cash for the first time ever the other night...I loves me some Sly Stallone. Pretty good stuff. That one bad-guy thug's massive chin/jaw was incredibly freaky.

I can't believe I didn't post this.

I watched Stardust last night, i.e. the adaptation of the Neil Gaiman novel. Much better than I expected, and not to mention Michelle Pfeiffer looks amazing.

I loved Stardust. Just for kicks, last night I watched "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs." It's just a fun movie. And - oh, yeah - I just bought all four of the Tremors movies, so I'll be watching them one of these nights. Talk about your guilty pleasures ...

The Illusionist - borrowed the DVD off my brother a while back but never really in the mood for it until there was nothing on last night. It was ok, I think Ed Norton's a really good actor and for the most part he was convincing but, having seen the Prestige several times, unfortunately The Illusionist isn't anywhere near as good and was in fact quite predictable.

Hustler Squad! a tacky, low-budget Philippino version of The Dirty Dozen - with tits! WW2. Four women with nothing to loose are recruited and trained to infiltrate a secret island brothel deep in the heart of Japanese occupied Somewhere Vague in the Pacific. Their mission: to kill four high ranking Japanese officers who will be there for a bit of R&R. What a boring movie. Next time I'll check my facts before I part with my hard earned 50p at a car boot sale. I got confused and thought I was buying Hell Squad - in which a group of Las Vegas showgirls undergo commando training and organize a rescue operation when a diplomat's son is kidnapped by terrorists. An easy mistake.

Yes, I watched Tremors and Tremors 2: Aftershocks last night. I'll probably watch Tremors 3 and 4 tonight ... or sometime this weekend. Yeah, it's silly, but it's fun!:D

Not going to tell you - see if you can work it out. Recently remade, the original contains the following dialogue:

"...why, once he even tried to ravish me disguised as a cuttlefish."
"Did he succeed?"
"Certainly not."

It was the 1981 Clash of the Titans. A far better movie than I remember it being. Did you Google that, Chuffalump, or was it a guess?

Memory is weird isn't it? but it is a damn fine piece of dialogue; almost Wildean.

Rewatched The Matrix last night for the first time in nearly a decade. An absolutely amazing film - my favourite sci-fi film by a mile.

I was asking myself these same questions recently. I really enjoyed the Swedish adaptation of Tattoo and I plan on either getting the blu-ray of the two sequels or catching them in the theaters.

Here in the US however, the movies are in very limited release. Off the top of my head Dragon Tattoo was only playing in two theaters in Manhattan and one in Long Island. And IIRC a few in Los Angeles. Same with The Girl Who Played With Fire. Its getting no commercial air-time whatsoever and if I mention to someone about the movies they are more than likely unaware that the movies have been made or have no desire to watch a "Swedish" film.

With that said, whether I am on vacation or on the subway I see a good percentage of people reading the books. I'd even go so far and say if I was keeping tally, that a little more than 25% of the people reading a book are reading a "Millennium" book. At least it seems that way.

So, yes, from a Hollywood, box office, money-making perspective it is necessary to "remake" the movies. I personally don't think it is necessary at all. But from a movie studio perspective there is a huge well to be tapped here.

I also don't expect good things at all from this. Hollywood more than likely is going to destroy it. I haven't done any research on director, actors, etc...but I can only hope it is done right with people who care about the books and are adept at adapting page to screen. I highly doubt it though.

Heroes Out Now

The last DVD I watched was Heroes season 4. I totally love that show, it's such a shame it got caned. Maybe if DVD sales are good they might bring it back. Well in the mean time i found some clips on youtube, check them out

Just got back from Knight & Day. I'm a fan - it was loads better than I expected.

The Expendables – A skimpy threadbare by-the-numbers plot is the frame around which this self-indulgent movie is made. There are many better Mission Impossible television episodes although admittedly with not as many mindless action interludes and explosions. Only two minutes of film are worth watching in this movie—probably on Youtube.
