Introduce yourself and say 'Hi'. This is the thread to say 'Hello' in (v3)!

Hello, Vasil! Welcome to the site. Tell us about some cool Bulgarian sci-fi. :D

Anyway, hello Introduction Thread. I'm Troophead, which is not my real name, but an embarrassing nickname given to me by a friend, dammit. Uh... so yeah. I'm made of carbon. My favorite molecular compound is dihydrogen monoxide. You could even say I'm addicted to it.

I like dinosaurs and opera.

Well bro (if i can call you that) in Bulgaria the sci-fi is not as popular as the fantasy gender. Well im pretty interested in the sci-fi as a whole, I even posted a thread about Dieselpunk for one of my two projects. :P Oh and btw troophead is a awsome nickname, mine is Moskowshark :(

I guess you could call me sis? :p

Bulgarian fantasy seems like it'd be interesting too. You guys have a lot of rich source material; it seems like there's always some interesting archaeological find or another being discovered there. America doesn't have much of its own history, so a lot of fantasy from here seems stuck in medieval England.

I posted in your dieselpunk thread even before I saw this introduction thread. I really like your idea! Don't let anyone tell you it's "not possible" in sci-fi, the limit is your imagination!

Well in terms of fantasy Bulgaria is a major inspiration because of the rich history, and when you need some fantasy elements you can always look into the slavic mythology for ideas and inspiration :P Not that i don't like fantasy, its just that i like starships shooting each other more. :D

Hi there.

Hi there, i just stumbled across this website, thanks to someone's facebook page. I'm an avid reader of Fantasy, as well as some Sci-Fi and Horror, so I didn't hesitate to log in.
I'm also a writer of Fantasy, with the first of a series of fantasy books available on Amazon and a short story on Smashwords. I'm due to release the 2nd book in the Storm-bringer Saga series shortly. I can put details of these elsewhere in the forum, i believe.

Hi ! I'm Nik.

Most of my many tales were on view at Necrotania but, sadly, that site folded early this year.

I've posted several short stories and a pair of poems to the library. I'll hold off on longer works until I figure out the chapter system...

Two thoughts:

If a tale appeared in a now-closed 'Small Press' publication, unpaid, rights-retained-by-author, does that prohibit its appearance here ?

Is there a 15+ warning system here for tales which are more than 'Young Adult' though not too awful ?

Nik

ps: Must dash, cats are dismantling PC's USB cables to remind me that 'second supper' is late, late, late...

Hello Everyone

Hey everyone my name is Charles and I'm kind of new to the writer scene right now, I'd love to hear some tips and tricks or maybe even opinions on a book I'm thinking about getting up.

----
I'm writing a book called 'Ends of the Universe' and I've actually attached the cover to it in this forum post (love to hear some opinions about that) - I was aiming for a funny and light-hearted space adventure series set to the tone of Douglas Adams but with the story aspects of Star Wars!

It's about a girl (our hero Eliza Brave) whom wakes up with no memory and is expected to save the universe, she gets set on her way with a coin and an idea of where to head but nothing more. Soon she bumps into a Outer-Space Rocker "Jape Zoon" - and know it all every-man "Ellerman" the being with the amazing memory...

There are giant Frog people, the Amazonia Britannica and even a risky bit of an adventure in a Casino where to win is to lose!

---

What do you think?

I don't get to these part of the wilds very often, so my apologies for missing a few of you!

Welcome, Navlogan! Good luck with your Storm-bringer Saga. It sounds interesting.

Hey Nik! I hope the cats are behaving. On the public side of things, we try to maintain a PG-13 level on stories posted. This is primarily self-regulated, so I'm sure you'll post the right thing. If you have questions, please check out our guidelines and you can always ask any moderator for help.

And a big hello to CharlesPenn! You story sounds like fun. Good luck with it! :)

Thanks for letting me join. I just heard about this place and look forward to reading ideas for fantasy novels and SCI/FI also. A little about me... I wrote two zombie novels and a mystery novel. A new mystery will be out soon... Zombies are my main thing at this point but I'm contemplating a vampire novel... no spoilers. the ideas are really good... you'll have to wait... anyway here's one of the zombie books on good reads... there's more reviews on amazon... https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18656727-rayzorwire

Hi everybody!

Hi there. My name is Jay Dee, and I'm an English teacher in Japan. But more importantly, I'm an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, as well as writing my own sci-fi novel. I run several blogs related to living in Japan, photography, and of course, books. My main blog these days is I Read Encyclopedias for Fun, but you can also visit my 'official' author page here. I hope to enjoy a lot of discussions here! Thanks!

Hello there Howesr1 and Jay Dee!

Nice to see you join the forum and I hope you both join us in the Writing forum. You might also want to check out our Promotion Zone where you can give a shout-out on your upcoming projects.

Welcome. :)

Howdy!

Howdy everyone!

I'm new to the forums, but I'm a huge sci-fi fan looking to participate in a great community. A pleasure to meet you all!

Welcome to genermcmillan, Sempethy, and EllaihMoos! Glad to have you on board. :)

Hi to all

I'm new to the site and a sci-fi buff.
Although a psychologist by profession, my Ph.D. dissertation was in parapsychology.
I have many non-fiction publications and have just received an Intent to Contract from a small press--after 2 years of being scourged by agents and larger publishers. Investigating members' opinions of publishers was how I found sffworld, bloodied but unbent.

Hi! I'm a long time lurker, first time poster.
I used to write a lot when I was younger, and recently I've felt the urge to start again. I'm thinking of participating in the monthly writing contests for practice.
