I Just Bought (DVD)

I bought:

Troy
The Perfect Storm
The Scorpion King

I have seen the first two but not the last one.

I would not have bought the first two (saw them, found them decent, but nothing to rewatch.) ;) Never mind. :)
But I got the last one after I enjoyed it at the theatre. It's a nice adventure action movie. Not great but entertaining. This is one of the movies I can watch when my mind has no capacity for anything else and even TV is too stupid and would overload my brain.
Do you have the one with the enhanced viewing mode? You can watch the movie with some deleted scenes cut it - not clean cuts and some scenes are in bad quality - but the story is much better in that version.

Anyway, I think I did not mention the LotR - Return of the King SEE that I bought just like so many others?

And I got the Firefly DVD box - I am very excited about the upcoming movie Serenity.
Then there is the French horror flick Haute Tension that my husband watched, bought and forced it on me as well. But it is really okay. ;)

Ordered Tipping the Velvet last week. Haven't seen that one yet and I usually don't buy movies unseen - but it was really cheap and I liked the novel, so ...

For christmas I snagged:
Seven
Happy Gilmore
Bring It On
and The Frighteners.

It's a nice odd mix, haven't watched any yet.

Yes I think I do, it says Alternate Version in Enhanced Viewing Mode. It also says Collector's Edition at the top of the box. I don't really like fight movies, but this has an ancient history tie-in, so I thought I would give it a try. I don't even know who The Rock is ?

I woke up one morning not long ago with an idea to make a collection of fantasy movies from the eighthies. Conan the Barbarian, Ladyhawke, Willow and Labyrinth are first additions to this collection.

I did exactly that last year mate, my list is as follows (some are still in their wrapping unfortunately)

Conan the Barbarian
Conan the Destroyer
Krull
Hawk the Slayer
The Princess Bride
Willow
Flesh and Blood
Warrior and the Sorceror (or princess and the sorceror, I can't recall)

I forgot about Labyrinth and also Lady Hawk!!! Doh.

The only ones who haven't seemed to have dated are Willow and the Conan movies, the others are 80's evil!!! But great fun.

Hmmz, the only of those I´ve seen is Willow. Are the Conan movies any good? Cos I heard about them, but nobody can tell me what they think about them :S. Very strange, you´d say once you see a movie you´ll be able to say you like it or not.

Well, I like the Conan movies. They are fun. ;)
I have the first movie, not yet the second one. I also have Willow (which was my favourite film for years and now has a special place in my heart :) ), Labyrinth, Legend and The Princess Bride. Don't really need the others. Maybe one day in a kind of fit I might buy Krull and Ladyhawke. ;)

Anyway, new DVD:
Trainspotting (the Definite Edition) and Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (the Special Edition)

not too long ago I bought Gormenghast on DVD (which I had been looking for for months), as well as Dungeons & Dragons - what a fun movie! :D

Underworld - extended cut
Groundhog Day - a classic ;)

Just sold my apartment, so the DVD ban is hereby lifted!!!

Spaced ~ Series 1
Spaced ~ Series 2
Earthsea
Exorcist ~ The Beginning
Flight of the Phoenix
Riding Giants
Bang Rajan

On order:

Incredibles
Elektra
Blade: Trinity
House of Flying Daggers
Dragon's World: A Fantasy Made Real
Jason Mraz Live
Goo Goo Dolls: Live in Buffalo
The Scourge of Worlds: A Dungeons & Dragons Adventure

The Scourge of Worlds sounds interesting, it is CG animation and has twenty points during the movie where you have to make a decision, which affects the plot, there are loads of alterate endings and ways to watch the film.

Also, the Dragon's World DVD looks good, it is similar to 'Walking with dinosaurs' but obviously about dragons. Neil Gaiman was involved, should be interesting.

TayTootje,

YES the Conan movies are great! However, as a kid I preferred the second film by far.

Recently when I watched them, I realized that I didn't have any sense of taste as a kid! The second movie is pretty cheesy and lacks a good plot, but the FIRST one is a classic! It takes itself rather seriously, and has a good plot, some great acting (James Earl Jones!), good music, good cinematography. This would be Conan the Barbarian. Watch it! :D

I've seen a preview of Scouge of Worlds and I thought it was pretty cool. I'd be interested to see if you like the whole DVD.

I've bought:

Alien Vs Predator
Daredevil: Director's Cut
The Cooler
Airplane!

I got on March 1st, the day it was released:

Super Bowl XXXIX - New England Patriots Championship Video

Very happy it is out, but I prefer last year's. This year lacks the narrative that was part of the Bonus Features. I am glad those EA jerks are not on the disk this year though.

Collateral - gosh, is this a good movie

I'm with you 100% on that one. I could sit there and watch the dvd intro for hours lol. That music is so cool.

Last week I picked up some ghibli flicks. I got Nausicaa, Porco Rosso and this Cat Returns one that I hadn't seen and due to this special offer I get Spirited Away for free. Sweet deal IMO.

Scourge of Worlds: A Dungeons & Dragons Adventure

My Son (6) and I watched/played this on Saturday and it was quite good fun the first ten times, and it was cool that you could actually die depending upon your choice. Eventually though, my son got bored and started getting annoyed as the options interrupted the flow of the movie.

The movie itself was nicely made, with okay characters and not as cheesy as it could have been. It carries a 12 cert (unnecessarily I might add). The ending was a complete let-down... well, there isn't really an ending, the credits just start to roll.

Also, and to quote my son "Daddy, why is it called Dungeons and Dragons, there isn't a dragon in it?"

Good point, son.

I just bought 'Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill.' Probably the greatest of the Russ Meyers Sexploitation films. If you ever get a chance to see this film...

It doesn't start off too well, the acting is very wooden, even Danny Glover.

But it does get going, I couldn't help thinking about Harry Potter though, especially when Sparrow Hawk is on Wizard's Island learning his craft. There is even a posh, evil student who could lead Slitherin given the chance. I know Eathsea came before HP by the way.

Not bad though, and it's good value for three hours. If you liked the Dune and Children of Dune TV mini series, you may like this.

I picked up a few this past weekend.

Collateral - excellent movie. I'm a big Michael Mann fan. I can't wait to see his movie version of Miami Vice with Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx (it's now filming)

Resident Evil: Apocalypse - I was a fan of the first movie, and this one was good too. Although I didn't like the shaky cam scenes of all the zombies.

South Park - The Movie - I laugh until my gut hurts during the song that Terrence and Phillip sing while farting.

Chronicles of Riddick - I didn't like it as much as Pitch Black, but there were some good scenes. Plus my girlfriend wanted to see it.
