Sounds like Guildford lol...if people haven't heard of Guildford, I usually resort to saying "it's near London." :D

Hi guys :)

Well i actually live in Kent, but just assumed (obv wrongly!) that more people would know london rather than Kent!!!!

Am hanging head in shame ;)

You'd be surprised how many people form the UK hang out here. Maybe we should have a bbq this summer?

Greetings sophia! hope you have fun on this site (but by the sounds of it you've already arranged a party!)

Hi all! I've been chatting on a Stargate forum for about a year now, and since I read a lot, I thought I'd try out a book forum as well! I tried one out a few weeks ago and it kind of sucked. There weren't many people to post and the ones that did were pretty pretentious. I thought we'd be having a good discussion and some guy'd come on and say how much the book/series/author sucked. I'm open to discussion but he'd never explain why. For a while I thought he was a n00b, but he was one of the oldest and most respected members of the forum. So, I looked around a little more and found this forum. I read a few topics and I really like the feel of this place! :D

So, I hope to have a lot of fun discussions here! :D

Hi all :)

I just discovered sffworld and thought it looked a pretty cool place. I don't get much time for posting on discussion boards, though I do belong to Internet Infidels (being an ex-Catholic convert to Atheism), so most likely I'll lurk a lot more than I post, but I'm sure you won't mind.

I've been an avid reader for more years than I'm going to reveal on here - lots of scifi in my younger days then found fantasy more to my taste, although I'm not picky about genre. Favourite authors of the moment - Garth Nix, Jonathan Stroud, Lian Hearn, Tad Williams. I love Terry Pratchett too - all of his books, even the early ones, perhaps because I read them as they came out.

I'm also the laziest writer in the world - got a few stories on the go, but right now spend most of my writing time working on a homebrew RPG setting (at least one of the stories is set there so it's a good excuse) - and a very infrequent poet.

What else? I live in the wonderful city of Brighton and Hove, and love it to bits. And that's all the news that's fit to print ;)

Becks and Idris, welcome! I also love Garth Nix, Lian Hearn, Williams and Stroud!

Hope to catch you in other threads, including a cricket one.... (hint hint, nudge nudge :p ;) )

Janos, Becks, Idris, a warm welcome to you all!

Janos, is that Supreme Commander of the Asgard Fleet? Any fan of Thor is a friend of mine!

Bingo! :D Now that the pesky ol' Replicator problem has been solved, I can devote more time to reading! ;)

Hi, finally went about googling 'science fiction'... like the site so far and am thinking about entering the contest. I do wish the site used a darker color scheme.

Hi all, I'm a 16 year old from London, England who loves reading science fiction and fantasy novels. Reading Fool's Fate by Robin Hobb at the moment. I listen to a lot of Rock music and am currently, desperately in fact, teaching myself to play a guitar
