Hi all! I've been chatting on a Stargate forum for about a year now, and since I read a lot, I thought I'd try out a book forum as well! I tried one out a few weeks ago and it kind of sucked. There weren't many people to post and the ones that did were pretty pretentious. I thought we'd be having a good discussion and some guy'd come on and say how much the book/series/author sucked. I'm open to discussion but he'd never explain why. For a while I thought he was a n00b, but he was one of the oldest and most respected members of the forum. So, I looked around a little more and found this forum. I read a few topics and I really like the feel of this place!
I just discovered sffworld and thought it looked a pretty cool place. I don't get much time for posting on discussion boards, though I do belong to Internet Infidels (being an ex-Catholic convert to Atheism), so most likely I'll lurk a lot more than I post, but I'm sure you won't mind.
I've been an avid reader for more years than I'm going to reveal on here - lots of scifi in my younger days then found fantasy more to my taste, although I'm not picky about genre. Favourite authors of the moment - Garth Nix, Jonathan Stroud, Lian Hearn, Tad Williams. I love Terry Pratchett too - all of his books, even the early ones, perhaps because I read them as they came out.
I'm also the laziest writer in the world - got a few stories on the go, but right now spend most of my writing time working on a homebrew RPG setting (at least one of the stories is set there so it's a good excuse) - and a very infrequent poet.
What else? I live in the wonderful city of Brighton and Hove, and love it to bits. And that's all the news that's fit to print
Hi, finally went about googling 'science fiction'... like the site so far and am thinking about entering the contest. I do wish the site used a darker color scheme.
Hi all, I'm a 16 year old from London, England who loves reading science fiction and fantasy novels. Reading Fool's Fate by Robin Hobb at the moment. I listen to a lot of Rock music and am currently, desperately in fact, teaching myself to play a guitar
