Hi I'm Nutmeg.

I did a sort of introduction in Chattery and got told off. So I'm doing it here again. So Hi I'm Nutmeg, I'm Irish and I've been reading SF and Fantasy for more years than I care to remember, I think my Dad started me off with The Hobbit, little did he know what he was starting!

If I sound like I'm waffling, apologies, I had a dose of insomnia last night and even listening to David Gemmell's Knights of Dark Reknown on CD didn't help me drift off.

BTW so sad to hear of his death during the Summer.

I'm going to stop now before I really start waffling :eek:
 
Hey, I'm Greg. I'm new here. I just started getting into reading science fiction. I've always read a lot, mostly military history and technothrillers. In the last few months I've read stuff by Clarke, Asimov, Heinlein, Stephen Baxter, and some alternate history stuff by Turtledove. When I get into something new I tend to go all out. There are so many books I want to read, but there is not enough time.
 
Welcome Mechaniik, gpackin, Nutmeg and anyone I missed out. Nice to have you visit with us. Be patient, not everyone on this forum is right in the head, we tend to like it that way. :D

Reading is a wonderful way to keep your brain from turning to mush when the daily grind is unstimulating. (I too worked as a secretary for a couple of years, it was the most boring job I could imagine and I kept from going crazy by tucking a book next to my computer and reading when the boss wasn't watching!).

I'm sure you'll find sffworld to be a valuable resource in figuring out what to read next. It's also fun to discuss the books you've already read with others. Congratulations on the new bookshelf, by the way! I'm in the process right now of convincing my husband I need a new shelf too! :)

im not shure u will like her books but if u want a good fantacy story try tamor pierce's books.
 
It occurs to me that I never introduced myself (just found this thread...duh)

I'm Gina. I live in VA at the moment. I'm married and have two kids and a dog. I mostly like PA fiction, but bounce around between fantasy, sci-fi and mystery to break it up. Nice to meet you all.
