Jan/Feb 2018 Short Story (max 5000 words) contest

I think we should one step further and tag anyone since the contests started. I think this forum is on its last legs. We need a hail marry.

It looks like the short story contests/competitions started around about June 2005. The earliest Flash contest I could find is from Dec 2009. I have a 34 words worth of character for this contest but don't know what to do with her yet. I'm off to collate data while I contemplate what kind of trouble to drop her in.

I found references to the original short story contests which appear to have been submitted to forum staff for judging. The contests as we know them seem to have started by this @Fung Koo thread.

Hasn't gone beyond this, but still thinking it will work just need to make it so.

Sometimes I think I should just give in and admit that I can never write anything worth-while of length, that I should just stick to micro/prose/poetry and do the best I can in that arena and then I read something by Anthony Doerr, Stuart Dybek, Delany,Faulkner or Steinbeck -- true poets of prose and I go, "Damnit! I want to DO THAT!"
