Think this topic's been done before, but anyway...

I have trouble limiting the list to 10 movies- 50 maybe. I guess it really depends what mood I'm in as to my favs. Off the top of my head and using English language films:

Casablanca
Godfather
Shawshank Redemption
12 Angry Men
Usual Suspects
LA confidential
American Beauty
Unforgiven
Great Expectations (Lean's adaptation)
It's a wonderful life
Strangers on a Train

1 - The Usual Suspects
2 - Donnie Darko
3 - Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
4 - Gladiator
4 - Pulp Fiction
5 - The Lion King
6 - The Godfather 2
7 - Ring
8 - The Matrix
9 - Phone Booth
10 - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

In no particular order:

Highlander
Braveheart
LOTR Trilogy
Pirates of the Caribbean
Star Wars Trilogy
Last of the Mohicans
Brotherhood of the Wolf
Gladiator
Akira
The 13th Warrior

It really depends what I have seen lately. It would be easier to list top 10 in each genre.
Still, in no particular order:

LotR trilogy
Indiana Jones trilogy
Star Wars Trilogy
Gladiator
Sleepy Hollow
Willow
12 Monkeys
X-Men 2
Back to the Future trilogy
Dogma

Of course I could name ten times this number, but these were the first that came to mind:

Raising Arizona
Braveheart
The Usual Suspects
Time Bandits
Requiem for a Dream
Hero
LotR Trilogy
A Clockwork Orange
Fight Club
Seven Samurai

I can't do an order!!!

The 13th Warrior
Jaws
LOTR Trilogy
An American Werewolf in London
The Last Samurai
Kill Bill Vol 1
True Romance
Bram Stoker's Dracula
The man who sued God
Blade Runner

And I'm cutting it well short my list would go on and on and on...

Amelie
Life is beautiful
City of God
Conan
Spirited away
Braveheart
Rob Roy
Pulp Fiction

Ten impossible...

But a few I love..... In no order.

Titfield Thunderbolt (I could list all the Ealing comedies but I won't ;) )

Henry V (Our Ken's version not Oliver's, though *g*)

Much ado about Nothing.

Sink the Bismark

Zulu!

Italian Job (The first, the only, the best.... )

Star Wars, (the first one)

Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Shawshank Redemption

Trainspotting.

Master and Commander,

Two Towers (Of all three this I enjoyed the most)

Glory.

Life and death of Col Blimp.

Yes I know 14.......*g* and I haven't even started....

It's funny, but this is ALWAYS a really difficult question. I have about 60 DVD's, and they could all make the list...

I have to count trilogies, or there's no way I could even make a list...

Well, here goes, IN NO ORDER (except for #1, LOTR!).

Lord of the Rings trilogy
Star Wars trilogy (original)
Matrix trilogy
Braveheart
Gladiator
Conan the Barbarian
The Big Lebowski
True Romance
Bram Stoker's Dracula
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

with honorable mentions to:

Highlander
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Pulp Fiction (and all other Tarantino)
Goodfellas and Casino
The X-Men movies
Hulk (even though most people hated it)
The Terminator Movies
Total Recall
Indiana Jones Movies
Back to the Future Movies

GOD, there's so many! TOO many!!!! ARGH!

Now that's faith. But of course having seen the other two and rated them highly, he's likely to enjoy the third.

Ten faves are (not in order)....

The Last Samurai
Equilibrium
Leon
Gladiator
The Young Master
Payback
Outlaw Josey Wales
28 Days Later
Dog Soldiers
Blade Series

Donnie Darko
Natural Born Killers
Whole Wide World
God Father I
God Father II
Lord of the Rings
Jackie Brown
Pulp Fiction
Salt Lake City Punk
House of a thousand corpses

It's always interesting to see the results of a thread like this, because everybody likes something different. :)

My ten faves, basically in order:

1. Last of the Mohicans
2. Lord of the Rings
3. Braveheart
4. The Crow
5. Rob Roy
6. The Matrix (trilogy)
7. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
8. The Last Samurai
9. Terminator 2
10.Mission Impossible 2

Funny, every single one of my favourites contains a lot of graphic violence. I wonder if that's unusual for a female? I like comedies too sometimes but not nearly as much as a good action flick.
