Just played Area 51 and I have mixed feelings. At first I was a little miffed 'cause I didn't get me a free copy but, having waited so long for it, I kinda expected something like this. Ah well, I played and beat it in about ten hours so I don't suppose I missed that much. The game itself is fun, lots of conspiracy theory stuff, and it has GORGEOUS CGI clips (only four though

). The in-game graphics weren't the best the PS2 is capable of at this stage but they weren't bad. What really got me was the lack of variety. Six weapons? About seven different enemies? That's a little annoying. Granted, you can morph into an alien, which gives you three more attacks and some cool super speed. Great voice acting, including David Duchovny, though Marilyn Manson sounded a little odd. I won't be buying it but it's a decent game. I must admit, I was expecting a little more from a big budget shooter this late in the PS2's life time.
Right now I'm playing Mercenaries (still

) and a cool, relatively unknown game called Blood Will Tell. It's a third-person action/adventure samurai (oh no!) game, but this is a good one. Basically, when you were a baby fourty eight demons stole fourty eight different body parts from you. As you grew your adopted father made prosthetic parts for you and eventually worked some funky weapons into them (you can take your arms off to reveal swords, you have a machine gun in your right arm, and you've got a mortar/cannon thing in your knee). You've got to hunt them all down and take back your body. Lots of style (and style is goooooooooood), though you're stuck with an annoying little androgenous side-kick with a bad voice actor. Definitely check it out if you like these kinds of games as it's one of the best.
