What's the last movie you watched (2010)?

Yeah I need to see it a few more times, I hope that wasn't a load of bs at the end when they said there's going to be another one.

Saintjon - an old face I haven't seen(/heard?) for years!! ;-)

Which film do you mean, bud? If it's Crazies then the end is typical of films these days, but if you meant 28 Weeks then the third film is out in the summer.

Darth - I'm a big zombie freak and I got loads of dvds - including a LOT of nasty low-budget ones. In fact, the novel I've been working on for years is Zed-tastic!!

Any Predator fans here? Then check this out...

I really, really hope this is good!!

Solaar
fingers crossed

I watched Invictus yesterday. I liked the movie quite a bit. It was well acted, and really just a beautiful film.

I have Zombie nightmares. The worst one was me trying to keep my son safe. God. Why do I do it to myself? I want to see Zombieland - any good?

I was referring to Rock 'n' Rolla, it said at the end that the characters would be back in "The Real Rock 'n' Rolla"

That Predators thing made my day Solaar, thank you!

Yes, yes and thrice yes! It's a lot of fun plus has the cute chick from Superbad in it - another favourite of mine!! It's definitely not scarey and you may well smile at a lot of it. Christ, it's got Bill murray as a zombie in it!! ;-)

Ah, that Predators site has bought a lot of people a lot of pleasure already!! I can't believe I didn't even know they were making it!!!

RE: Rocknrolla I remember Guy Richie saying that they'd filmed far too much stuff to fit into the first film which is why half the sequel is already good to go! There's a lot of people waiting for that one to surface...

Solaar
patiently waiting

You had me at Bill Murray - thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out.

I could not get the vid to play on the Predator movie but I welcome another one if it is focusing on them. I loved #2 with Danny Glover. Have not been a big fan of the Alien/Predator cross overs. s**t they missed the boat. So much potential. Real rips as far as I'm concerned.

So what is a Rock N Rolla - I dont think I totally figured that out?

Invictus is quite good, of course I am a sucker for anything involving Eastwood.

*throws a quick look to his right at the 40+ Eastwood dvds sat on the shelf next to him* I know what you mean, Durzo!

Daddy D - RocknRolla is another grizzled criminal film by Richie, but definitely a tad darker than Lock Stock and much moreso than Snatch. I must admit, I'm not sure if the typical Mockney-Richie fan will enjoy it.

I remember first watching it and thinking that the starting 20 mins were a drag, but once it got going I was hooked and everytime it pops up on tv I sit there and make whoever is around watch it with me ;-) It became one of those cult monsters among my friends and I!!

Solaar
give it a go

I did watch R n R - I really liked it. I was wondering what the term means. I missed it in the early goings on of the movie when I was still getting a handle on the accents. I do love a gritty, tongue in cheek movie.

I'm with you boys on Eastwood. I love pretty much everything he has ever done. I pull out the Good the Bad and the Ugly routinely. There is something about that one. Gran Torino was simply perfect.

Cheers
DD

My bad, Daddy - just read your previous post saying you'd watched it!! A RocknRolla is someone "that wants the f**king lot" - the girls, the money, the drugs.

Wish I was one ;-)

Solaar
a mocknrolla

I thought in England a Rock'n'rolla was just another slang term for a flat-out gangster. The line at the end makes more sense that way to me. "Now I'm gonna be a REAL rock'n'rolla like you!"

Solaar knows my feelings on the Eastwood deal. Some of these would be Hollywood badasses we have now need to get some Clint Eastwood movies and take notes. I wasn't that enamoured with Unforgiven when I was a kid, now I watch it like every time it's on tv. The whole movie is just too good, then at the end when he starts hitting the whiskey and blowing people away it's the greatest.

"You just shot an unarmed man!"
"Well he should've gotten himself armed if he was going to put my friend on display in front of his bar."

If I had any sort of video editing skills I would be polluting youtube with videos of Josey Wales spitting tobacco all over everything I hate.

Josey Wales is my favourite though. The best is how he wields that chewing tobacco like a lethal weapon. For example:

"Ain't we gonna bury them, Josey?"
"Buzzards gotta eat," *spits on dead bounty hunters forehead (!)* "Same as worms..."

Now, now Saintjon, we don't wanna turn this into an Eastwood love-in do we?

Do we...? ;-) As you can see from my avatar I'm a die-hard fan, and I've mentioned all the dvds I own previously and I keep casting a longing glance at them, knowing I need to start watching them again.

Maybe soon...

Mayor: I don't want any more trouble like you had last year in the Fillmore District. Understand? That's my policy.
Callahan: Yeah, well, when an adult male is chasing a female with intent to commit rape, I shoot the bastard; that's my policy.
Mayor: Intent? How did you establish that?
Callahan: When a naked man is chasing a woman through an alley with a butcher knife and a hard-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross.

Archie: People ask the question... what's a RocknRolla? And I tell 'em - it's not about drums, drugs, and hospital drips, oh no. There's more there than that, my friend. We all like a bit of the good life - some the money, some the drugs, other the sex game, the glamour, or the fame. But a RocknRolla, oh, he's different. Why? Because a real RocknRolla wants the ****ing lot.

Hitman - aside from Olga Kurylenko's nakedness at every possible opportunity, nothing to report here. So many ways they could have done this well and yet ...

Had to see what the buzz about Precious (A film based on the novel Push by Saffire blah blah blah) and I have to say I take a lot for granted.

I am sorry to continue the Eastwood love in but if you want a great example of plain old tough then him being marched through the desert by El Bruto in the Good the Bad and the Ugly is one of the best scenes ever. Then he gets the upper hand. Beautiful.

The end of that movie kicks ass.

But I gotta say - The Bridges of Maddison County - Not so much.

Punisher War Zone - I know, I know but I like Ennis' Punisher so much I had to give it a go. No lessons learned from the first film or MAX, some slight but pathetic nods to Garth's run and although I'd buy Rome guy as Castle, the film doesn't allow him to grow into the character. I am ambivalent about a third film - unless they let Garth Ennis write it.
