I was planning on waiting till it was one of those 'can't even give them away' DVDs on eBay like War of the Worlds, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, and Planet of the Apes.

I haven't seen it yet but I don't think I could wait THAT long. I DID pick up Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow in a bargain bin. Right now some poor charity shop manager is still trying to get rid of it after I craftily slipped it into a bag of clothes.

Just saw Beneath Hill 60 about Australian sappers mining under German lines during WW1 and detonating an explosive under a German bunker. Not a bad film, exploring the boredom and anxiety in the mines and a few shots of trench warfare.

Just saw Pirate Radio on DVD. It was fun to see a bunch of great actors deliberately hamming it up to the max. The Brits still rule when it comes to farce. And the music was of course great.

I watched Green Mile a few hours ago.
Second time I've seen it, and I loved it just as much as the first time. Very strong film :)

Yes, definitely one of the better Stephen King film adaptations, along with The Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me.

As for me, I finally watched Heat (about 15 years late). What a fantastic movie. DeNiro and Pacino were wonderful, and it had one of the best endings I've seen in a long time.

I watched Shawshank last night (along with American History X).
Not heard of Stand By Me, though, but I'll look into it.

I hope you find it Dwagginz, Stand By Me is a classic. Shawshank and American History X are both favourites of mine but watching them both in one evening would leave me in a pretty foul mood.

See, Shawshank doesn't bother me too much. For something linked to Stephen King, it's surprisingly mild in terms of content. American History X remains one of the most powerful and emotionally-affecting films I've ever seen. I've not cried in 3-4 years, but American History X brought me damn close.

But I'll look into it. I'm in the mood for some King. Darn.

I saw some show about how the director was never happy about American History X, he got freaked out about Ed Norton wanting more and more creative control and bolted or some such. Then he brought the tradition of the Alan Smithee credit to an end when he asked for one for the movie, which the Guild thought was way too good to grant one. So strangely enough it's like the best movie ever that the director wants no credit for. I love American History X, but ever since I saw that I wonder if it would be even better if the director had been able to do the final edit like he always wanted.

Aye. If it's all on the cutting room floor, it'd be good if they could release a "Director's Cut" or something similar.
Ed Norton's probably one of my favourite actors, even if I haven't got much of his stuff. I thought he was great in Red Dragon and American History X, and better than expected in The Incredible Hulk.

Yeah he is pretty good in People Vs. Larry Flint and Fight Club also. Can't say I've ever really been disappointed by Edward Norton. I never did see that one dumb heist movie remake though. Can't remember what it's called but it looked bad.

Not seen either of them. Well, not heard of the first and no interest in the second.

Might watch another movie later, not sure.

The Italian Job was a great movie.

The Italian Job was a great movie.
Yeah, it was unexpectedly entertaining. Don't write it off!

I remember hating that movie where he played a priest, and Ben Stiller played a rabbi. I think it was called Keeping The Faith? Although I'm sure Norton was probably okay, and it was the actual movie itself I didn't enjoy.

Watch Clash of the Titans 3D and have to say it was crapy. Acting sucked! Action was ok. But you couldn't even tell the movie was 3D, so don't even waist your money. All and all this is one movie I could wait for on tv. :(

Picked up and watched Avatar last night at home on BR. Love it.

And Dwagginz - You have got to track down Stand by Me. It is simply an amazing movie. One of the best King movies out there. In the same company as Green Mile and Shawshank for sure.

I suppose I have to add it to my Amazon wish list, then :P

"Why did i get married too ?" Comedy movie and i enjoyed . No real star in the movie but plot was good .

Stand by Me is based on King's novella The Body, and as already noted by others, is a true classic. Of all the Stephen King I've read down through the years, The Body remains my favorite. There's something quintessentially American about the story and it was beautifully adapted to the big screen.

It's one of the very few movies that I think everybody should see.
