What's the last movie you watched (2010)?

And I just feel like the film had no truly threatening villain. Hammer is set up as kind of an idiot, and after his attack at the race, Whiplash just sort of becomes a non-entity until the end, and even then, he's just using the same weapons that failed to defeat Iron Man the first time around. Now if you'd have had Hammer as the sole villain, and that presentation at the end was a deliberate trap to take down Iron Man, that would have felt more like a threat. Like a master plan had come together.

And honestly, the one character who felt like a real threat to Iron Man disappears after the first twenty minutes -- Garry Shandling's Senator Stern.

Good point about Sen. Stern, he was neutered very early in the movie, which is a shame and I am not a Gary Shandling fan but he played the character quite well.

Last night I watched The Hurt Locker, I thought it was below average. Rarely do units go out on their own to hunt down roadside bombs and that is just one of my complaints.

Trying to find the energy to watch a movie tonight but not sure I will find it. I have Green Zone sitting on my TV unit and a few others but just no motivation to watch them.

Finally seen Avatar!! Blu-ray DVD.

Since I didn't see it at the cinema I don't feel the lack of the big screen experience.

Very enjoyable.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension for the umpteenth time.

"There are monkey-boys in the facility!"

Tried to watch Up for the first time. Could not make it through the first half hour. First time that has ever happened.

Picked up Solomon Kane and plan to watch it this Saturday before heading out to watch Baseball. Just hope it is as good as I remember it from the theater.

I don't know which Blade Runner to watch. I got the Ultimate Collector's 5-Disc edition for £6 today, which means I have about a billion versions to see.

But I'll watch one later :D

I rarely go to the movies unless it's something worth seeing on a giant screen like "Avatar"... I did just see "The Blind Side" on dvd, and it turned out to be a surprisingly good sports-inspirational-type movie (post-Speed Sandra Bullock is back, methinks!) I'd rate along the likes of "Rudy" and "Hoop Dreams".

Kick Ass
Loved it.
8.5 / 10

Awesome.

I saw Iron Man 2 and it definitely wasn't the best sequel ever and it definitely wasn't the worst either. I thought the good outweighed the bad. Good point about the villains though. I will say that although Rorke used the same tech at the he probably incorporated the pointers Tony gave him, plus he actually had some d at that point.

Just watched KICK ASS last night, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it.

There wasn't as much gratuitous profanity and violence as I was lead to believe there would be, and even the single (that I noticed) dropping of the C* bomb was 'appropriately' used (lol - as if there is ever an appropriate use of that word ).

One thing that made me laugh was Nick Cage's different voices - what was up with that? :D

Southland Tales (2006) - having been baffled and frustrated the first time I saw this (was it 145 minutes of puerile wanking, possibly the biggest single waste of time money and talent put up on the screen that I can recall ever having seen? - or was it me just not getting it?) Tonight I sat down tonight to watch the even longer 160 minute 'Cannes Cut'. It's been several months since I watched the shorter version and, apart from a few shots of Janeane Garofalo pacing behind a desk doing not a lot, I can't say the extra fifteen minutes did anything to enlighten me. Still looks like overly ambitious pseudo-philosophical/mystical puerile wank to me.

Finally got around to watching Sunshine. The first half really had me interested, but the last 30-40mins just didn't seem to be the same movie :(

The new Robin Hood didn't blow me away but it was pretty good. I thought the casting was really strong. My favourite thing was that for once a Robin Hood show had a somewhat realistic appraisal of Richard the Lionheart. They really only showed him through rose-tinted glasses in one aspect I could see, other than that they pulled no punches. It was strange the way they did the story though, it seemed very likely that they made this with sequels in mind, which is unusual for a Ridley Scott movie.

At my wife's urging we watched My Sister's Keeper last night. I was very surprised by how much I liked this movie. It was very draining emotionally and the actors were completely convincing. As my dad would say "a real tear jerker."

The Stuff - a 1985 New World offering about a killer pudding taking over America. The pain! The Pain!

Last weekend I saw Iron Man 2 and really enjoyed it. The first one was a lot to live up to for the sequel, but I enjoyed the heck out of the movie.

This past weekend, we saw Robin Hood and thought that was very enjoyable, too. Was it Scott's best move? No. But I thought the cast was pretty good and the story worked for me.
