Wizard's First Rule....the Film?

I like Christopher Loyd as Zedd. His work in Back to the future makes me think that he would make a great Zedd.

absolutely, the Lloyd call is perfect, someone that looks crazy most times but can serious and authorities when required.

If this movie goes ahead it would be brilliant. I would love to see this book on the big screen :D

I've no idea though about who could take the parts:confused:

rune

I would have to go with Hugh Jackman as Richard.

I'm not too sure about Khalan but it has to be someone that can look regal, and of course has to look amazing in the white dress.

as for Darken, who can you get that is good looking and evil looking at the same time.

How about that girl that played elektra in Daredevil playing the role of Khalan...was it Jennifer Garner? Yeah, perfect match.

Lol! No way! I'm auditioning for that part... heh and the part of Denna. :D

Not to mention I'm not an ultra skinny model so it won't look stupid when I do karate... hehe and I have my black belt. ;)

I envisioned the following people as I read:

Kahlan- Anna Friel
Zedd- Anthony Hopkins circa Mask of Zorro (I'm not alone in that opinon either)
Samuel- Get Gollum off LotR to do it! Seriously! Pack his screen time with in-jokes and "precious" Sword of Truth references!
Darken Rahl- Rufus Sewell (he should be in every film going, I recommended him for the part of Elric of Melniboné too).

Anna Friel would be a FANTASTIC choice for Kahlan.

Good thinking!

Good Greif! MEN!

Anna Fiel is just another ugly little stick!!! There is absolutely no way she could be even remotely convincing as either a strong or an agile individual. Haha, Don't even get me started on how stupid she'd look with a broad sword! I don't think so. I'd rather slash my wrists then watch a movie with a heroine that looks like that.

Good gravy! Women!:p

Ugly? I don't know about that. I for one so would. I think she'd do a good job; she has a fiery side to her and she matches the physical description.

She has a playfully enigmatic quality about her as well; Goodkind's "secret smiles" were rubbish but if any one could salvage it Ithink she could.

Sparhawk,

Don't worry about Shan. She's just gearing up for her role as a Mord-Sith. (one, that I think she could play quite nicely).:D

Why Thank You Kanin! What a wonderful compliment! Anytime you need me to whip out my agiel and knock some skulls, let me know! ;)

 :D

Hmm... Maybe we should meet up and discuss this further Shanoica...

Any thoughts on Richard? How old is he supposed to be in the first book?

Shan's busy working on that red leather suit.

Anyway, I've always pictured Christian Bale as Richard.

Christian Bale? Hmm... He's to busy being Batman, besides he's not.... handsom enugh. Remember he's GORGEOUS. And I already have the white, brown, black and red ones ready. I'm a huge fan of leather.

I read an interview with Terry Goodkind from November of last year, and he said that quite a few important directors have been in contact with him regarding the making of WFR into a motion picture.

The main concerns were of course with the length of the book. It takes 120 pages of manuscript to fill a 2 hour movie, whereas WFR would be 1200 pages of manuscript! This is according to the website where I read the interview. I'm not exactly sure of all the details like that, but I do know if that is correct, then it could cause some serious problems in making the movie. A trilogy would be necessary for just the one book!

ANyways, what does everyone think? Anyone have any casting ideas? I think that could be hard. But let's give it a try, shall we?

I would love nothing more to see a movie of WFR, however, as with all books made into movies, im afraid it would lack if they left something out. And as you said, its a long book so they would have to cut stuff out. And that would ruin it. If its possible to make a movie and keep all the important and good parts, then i say shoot for it. Otherwise, leave it alone.

Well, when I really thought about it, Christopher Lloyd would make the perfect Zedd. He has that eccentricity thing going on. Also, I think Christian Bale is ok, but Hugh Jackman is not. Richard needs to be someone who LOOKS about 22 or 23. I would say Darken would have to be very handsome, despite being upper 30's/lower 40's.

I don't know about Anna Friel. I envisioned Kahlan as someone who is not too thin but curvy yet muscular and has a strong, determined look about her. She's not a "girly girl."

Rufus Sewell would be good for the part of Darken Rahl depending on if he looked good in blond hair. (aka: it looks natural)

All in all, it would be great if they made WFR into movies WELL, but I don't really have faith that they will give justice to Terry Goodkind's work.

How about Laura Fraser for Kahlan?

She played Kate, the armourer/smith in A Knight's Tale.

My proposal:

Richard: Clive Owen

Khalan: Jennifer Connelly

Darken Rahl: Brad Pitt

Zedd: As others have said, Richard Harris would be the perfect choice. May be Al Pacino?

Chase: Scott Glenn
