Thanks sammie I was wondering why that person put that on here.

Since I've been away from the series for a while now... looking back it was all a great adventure, but I think far to vast for a series... "epic" would quickly become monotony... Unless it had starwars like bugeting of course. :D

Heh, anyway I just think they should make a movie out of SoT and leave it at that... however, gasp with casting these days Im dead scared we'll get Ashton Kutcher for Richard and Britney Murphy for Kahlan! What's happened to movies these days!!!

Thats why they shouldn't make it a movie because that just might happen.Just cause you don't like Sot so much doesn't mean they should just make it a movie and leave it at that. I enjoyed the series/still do and I would love to see a movie but I don't even think starwars budgeting would make it a good movie plus I think it would get more critism then it would be enjoyed and thats the reason I want it to be made is to be enjoyed. Some want it made to be critized and I don't want that to happen because more likely then not thats whats going to happen.

I would go for:

Zedd = Bill Nighy (the old rockstar from Love Actually) I would take him more serious then Chistopher Lloyd. And he can be funny. Skinny.

Kahlan = Kate Winslett (I don't know but I think she has that 'royal look', the body as the book describes, same eyes even (?) and I guess she can wield a sword)

My other choice for Kahlan would be Natascha McElhone. She's beautifull, long hair, 'wise' look. Look for her at IMDB. The Truman Show, Solaris, Ronin.

Darken Rahl = Well Brad Pitt seems like a good choice. Maybe a bit too young. Nah he's 42. Old enough.

Richard = Well in my imagination he is like the character 'Storm' from the comic , well Storm... He should look similar to Brad Pitt then. Matthew McConaughey perhaps?

Chase = Russell Crowe will do just nice I guess.

Denna = I agree with Famke Janssen

I don't know if a movie would be a good idea. However, if they made one Richard should be played by Christian Bale and Darken Rahl would have to be Jason Issacs. I think Patrick Warburton would be a good Chase. Russell Crowe has the look, but it's too minor of a part. They should probably go with unknowns for Kahlan and Denna... Zedd is a tough one though. Christopher Lloyd could be good. He can be strong in a good role. He was great as Doc Brown.

Russell Crowe as Richard though? He's too old. Richard is in his mid twenties in WFR. Isn't he?

For the small screen??!!

I'd like to see a series like this with a life on the small screen as a long running TV production. The story-lines are in place for years of exceptional television. I have always thought that this type of hour-at-a-time format would allow the richness of the books to come through.

I'd love to see HBO produce it. They have a reputation for making world class programming over the last decade. This storyline would capture a ravenous and addicted following for years of entertainment. His stories are clever and adventerous with tremendous action. There are rich worlds to discover and characters to hook even a passing viewer. There would be plenty of opportunity to bring the twists necessary to keep an audience too. And of course, there is the ever beloved DVD Box set to think of.

For me this format would allow me to experience the richness of the stories, characters and landscapes without being crammed into a two hour format.

No way would Kahlan be black, like Beyonce is. Beyonce doesn't fit at all. Kahlan for one has red-brown hair and green eyes. Plus, I don't see her playing a character like Kahlan.

Haha. That would be hilarious..Not sure if your joking though..lol :D

I think she should make a really good Du Chaillu though, if ever they decide to do the whole series.

Darken Rahl - Jason Issacs (anthony hopkins? Are you kidding me?)
Denna - Elizabeth Hurley
Zedd - Alan Alda
Giller - Liam Nieson
Rachel - Dakota Fanning
Richard - Christain Bale
Chase - Ray Stevenson(Dagonet from King Arthur)
Jagang - Matthew McConoughey(from reign of fire)
Nicci - Christina Ricci

and please get out of here with beyonce. just disapear for that. If she's gonna be Kahlan, we might as well have Chris Rock as Richard.

Too true. Kahlan is completely not a beyonce character. I have to say though, I agree with almost all of your casting choices. I don't think christian bale really fits of what I imagine richard as, but I haven't found an actor yet who I think would fit as richard. I mean, he has such a distinct type of persona. Denna, Giller, Chase, Jangang, and Nicci are good choices though. I still say that Christopher Lloyd would be the best Zed, although Alan Alda might work. Any thoughts about Kahlan?

You know what I've found? I've realized that there are several actors/actresses out there that others (and some from me) have thought of to play the different characters, but I haven't found one actor yet who I see as a Richard nor an actress who I think could play Kahlan.

I would hope that if they make a movie - they would get big name actors and actresses, and they would do it RIGHT. It would definately have to be a big budget movie..........

I've read this whole thread, and it's amazing what different ideas everyone has about the characters....

No one has said this name............. and she would be perfect as Kahlan......

Angelina Jolie

Or as .....Denna .............

Either one, really...........

Yes, Angelina Jolie.

ok - she would make a better Denna than Kahlan, maybe..........

What if...

I think that these books have INCREDABLE potential. If the people that make the movie make it ACURATE to the novels then it could possably make history. I for one would go to see it on the silver screen more than once.

I read somewhere that Gookind is now saying he will not allow the books to be made into film... not sure if it's true or not.

Also, I'm not sure what's going on in some of your heads... but I seriously doubt Kirsten Dunst could capture the spirit portrayed by Kahlan... and there's no way I can picture Matthew McConahey < spelling way off, i'm aware > as Richard... maybe as Jagang... maybe... Christian Bale is much more appropriate for Richard. However, I think someone new would be in order. Some new face...

Well, I mean, look at most of the book made films before Lord of the Rings. They all sucked an epic amount.

Plus, how would they portray the depth of the world, and characters that we've all grown to care about in like... a number of hours? I dont think they could do it, and I doubt Goodkind thinks they could, either.

Some books just arent made to be movies. Like Walden.

Oh, and I think Carrot Top would make a sweet Richard. David Hasslehoff should be Darken Rahl, and Gary Coleman should be Demmin Nass. Kahlan would have to be played by Wanda Sykes, and the only badass in the entertainment industry worthy of playing Chase is Loui Anderson.

Seriously people, what the hell are you talking about?
