Wizard's First Rule....the Film?

Ok someone mentioned angelina Jolie as Kahlan. Ok, she was hott in tomb raider, any guy I'm sure will agree. And it's obvious that she's a tough babe that can whoop some ass. But she's just too old for Kahlan. I think the best way to go for her as with alot of the cast would be nobody's. That's basically how the Harry potter movies got it done. A s**t load of no bodies sprinkled with a few stars. I posted my cast picks a few pages back and I'm sticking with those. Here's an idea to kick around. Since the book is so long and we'd all be severly pissed if they left anything out, how's about a Television series. Or something along those lines.

Well, I don't really know how she is as an actress, but I see her as a possibility to play Kahlan (if she got red hair and green eyes that is). Otherwise, Cara as you said.

i dont know who id like to be any charactures, but if they do make a movie, it better not dissapoint!!

Cast of WFR? I think Kahlan should be Robin Wright-Penn (the chick from princess bride), Richard should be Viggo Mortenson (aragorn) Darken Rahl should be Jeromy Irons, and Zedd should be Ian Mckellen (gandalf).

Hi all, interesting forum.

Richard Rahl must look YOUNG, most of those other choices the dude has looked about 40. he's only 25 max. Don't spose we could use Orlando for him? maybe he's a bit thin, Richard is meant to be built like a "brick hit house" (stolen quote form "the Simpsons" descibing Homer when he is about the fight Dreaderick Tattim).

Draken Rahl- that Willen guy from Spiderman? He looks pretty crazy, and a slight resemblance to Orlando- maybe im just going crazy on that one tho...

I think we ave already decided that Zedd is going to be Christopoher Llyod, he's perfect.

Kahlan - that chick from Alias, Shes got good coloured hair already, can kind of act, and has a good smile. sorry, cannot be a latino chick, they are the wrong skin tone and hair colour, and the voice would be all wrong. Maybe that Keira Nightly Chick from Pirates of the carribean.

The Rock as on of those body guards for Draken Rahl would be good. Although they are meant to be blond, so maybe some of those chessey German martial arts actors from the 1980's would be good, im thinking a young version of Jean Claude Van Dam, he'd be perfect.

Any relativly hot chick with a good body and mean face could play a Mord-Sith, would be a cheap role to cast, not too much acting talent required.

Just my thoughts, not like it would ever happen like that anyway "sniff"

I would like to say hello to everybody first :) (i apologise for incorrect spelling errors)
I personally think that Hugh Jackman from x-Men would be a good richard as for Khalan I am not sure I will have to think about it. Ian McKellan would make a perfect Zedd as he has already proven he can acomplish a slightly erratic wizard role in LOTR.
 
Sorry mate, but Hugh Jackman is just too old, Richard is meant to only be about 25. Hugh Jackman must be about 35, and even if he is not that old, he LOOKS old.
Ian Mckellam was a good wizard in LoTR but he has already done the job, why would we want to see him do the same roll twice? But thats just your opinion, i guess i get a little to serious about these things!
 
I have been thinking about this subject for a while. While scrolling through the earlier posts, I thought to myself, Zedd has a certain quirk to his character that some of the before-mentioned actors just don't seem to convey. Then it hit me, Christopher Lloyd would make the perfect Zedd! It may just be my opinion, but I love the Back to the Future movies, and his performance was flawless in Clue. Moving to Richard, either Hugh Jackman or (and this is just sort of a thought and not to be taken seriously) Brendan Fraiser. I only say this because he fits the physical description almost on the dot, though I do Picture Richard as a bit more manly. Kahlan...hmmm. I don't know about Catherine Zeta Jones (although I think she is a decent actress). Something about her just doesn't seem very Kahlan-y to me. Cara is the one that really bothers me though. She is one of my favorite characters, hands down. I just can't think of an actress that really fits her. Anyway, I love the idea of a WFR movie, and I hope they pick the perfect actors to portray the characters that I have grown to love. *Oh, and I also think Willem Defoe would make a good Darken Rahl

casting

Actually, I was thinking maybe Cristian slater as the wizard who helps the little girl.

and perhaps Brad Pitt as Darken Raul.

Jim Carrey as the little dude who used to have the sword.

Selma hayek as the witch they run into in agaden reach.

hmmm, maybe Robert Redford as Zedd

Colin Farrell as the artist mage who captures Richard

I can't seem to picture Richard though

That lady from Terminator 3 who is the new terminator as Denna

hmmm...
 
One more thing

Its sorta funny but everyone seems to keep mentioning Cara, but shes not in the first book.

Casting

Yes, However if you look through some of the other replies they specifically mention the first book as being the one being thought of to cast. Even if they were to look at casting other movies, since I wanted to be sure when she came in, I read the first 3 books again over the last 2 days and she doesn't even appear until the very end of book 2. in a movie setting perhaps a 10 minute segment. She really doesn't become such a huge part of Richard's and Kahlan's Lives until the fourth book where the plague happens and one of the other 2 Mord Sith die. We would be waiting a long time for any of that to appear in a movie. I think the first book someone said would take like 4 movies.

<Theater or DVD?>

i keep thinking about the movie and how good it should be, but do you think it will go to theaters or straight to VHS/DVD? unless it has some super famous people in to i dont think it will make to theaters
