Edge-Lit 3: Derby’s annual science-fiction, fantasy and horror writing day in QUAD 19 July – confirms full list of speakers and guests of honour
Edge-Lit, Derby’s annual science-fiction, fantasy and horror writing day, returns in 2014 with its third installment, and the full-line up of authors is now confirmed for the event. With a host of UK talent from across three genres, the day will present a packed programme of panels, readings, workshops and more. The guests of honour for the event have been confirmed as Joe Abercrombie and Charles Stross.
Joe Abercrombie is the author of the First Law fantasy novels, which have made him one of the most significant names in the field. He has been shortlisted for both the John W. Campbell and David Gemmell Legend Awards, and his new series with HarperCollins begins with the forthcoming Half a King. Charles Stross is a leading author of science-fiction and horror, and is a multiple winner of both the Hugo Award and the Locus Award. His existing series include The Laundry Files, The Merchant Princes and Saturn’s Children.
Joe and Charles will be joined by nearly twenty other speakers at the event, including science-fiction authors such as Jon Courtney Grimwood, Tricia Sullivan and Jaine Fenn, fantasy writers including Freda Warrington and Graham Edwards, plus a strong line-up of horror speakers with Simon Clark, Conrad Williams, Johnny Mains and many more.
Edge-Lit Co-Ordinator Alex Davis said: ‘I’m delighted with the line-up we’ve managed to secure this year, with not only two fantastic guests of honour but also a great range of talent who will bring a host of fascinating perspectives to the event.
