Hulk

I'm looking forward to the Hulk. I don't read comic books but it appears that the Hulk is hunted by the government, which is different from the goody-goody types seen in the other comic book movies up to this point. How pretentious to want to save people like you are god or something! :D

The first Batman is pretty much a classic, guys. I thought Keaton was the only true Batman...certainly better than Kilmer and Klooney.

I'll be seeing the HULK this weekend, for sure, but only because I'm a true Marvelite. If I wasn't, I wouldn't go, because the film looks stupid. Sorry. All that CG nonsense...I'm bored with it.

Xmen 2 was....ok. Enough little nerd scenes so that a Marvelite like me says, "Ooooh! Did you see that! That was BEAST on the T.V. screen in the bar!!" Nothing that I want to see again.

The movie I'm really looking forward to seeing is The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! I think that's my kind of stuff! Sci-Fi, horror, historical fiction, allusion....and with CLASS and intellect!

The CG in LXG doesn't look much better than the Hulk. I'm looking forward to it anyway though.

"The movie I'm really looking forward to seeing is The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! "

They're making a movie of that? If so, that's excellent.

Me too.....seen the trailer and it looks good, EXCEPT that the films had BIG problems with Connery, and the director falling out big-time, with Connery having to step in at the end to finish the editing. There's also worrying sounds that about the only thing that the film has in common with the graphic novel is the character names and the title.

Dare I mention the Avengers movie at this point?

(Actually, there were bits (very small bits) of that I liked, even if I think the leads were very badly cast... :))

Hulk doesn't open here until July 18th :(

HULK WAS AMAZING

Ang Lee is the man. I figured I'd like the Hulk, but I never thought I'd like it that much. Best acting I've seen in a comic conversion yet.

I certainly wouldn't have expected to leave The Hulk in the kind of introspective state Thomas Covenant books usually leave me in!

Thanks Saintjon! That's just what I wanted to hear. You're usually pretty right on about things, so I'll trust ya.

I havn't seen it yet but I was starting to get the impression from the previews that I might really like the Hulk movie and that it would be much better then the supposed big summer blockbuster X-Men and Matrix movies.

I didn't like it. To be honest I thought it was a waste of time. It was *attempting* to be thought-provoking but instead left you scratching your head thinking, "What the f*** was that?"

I should've gone to see 2 Fast 2 Furious. Would've satisfied me better.

The Hulk

The Hulk: Oh my, If you have read any of the previous pages of this thread then you know that I once fostered such high hopes for it, sadly those hopes were crushed against the wall, just as in ancient times when a conquering army dashed the head of the conquered monarch’s offspring against the city walls to end the royal line, so to have my hopes been dashed…

I love you SJ, but I need to ask just how many nickel bags you rolled and smoked before you even bought your ticket, let alone the amount to hammered while in the theater…;)

To simply say BAD, is to not do the word bad justice in this account. The plot was very skunk like. I will contest my dear friend SJ here, although I forgive him, because I know that he was into the cooking Sheri again and I will simply say that the acting was a rare return to the classic “B” movie. Sam Elliot will soon see some real serious prison time for murder, as he is looking to shoot his agent as you read this. The other actors are for the most part tested veterans and have proved that they can carry their own weight in a part, which raises an even bigger question.. Were these actors so hard-up for work that they would and in this case take any part no matter how badly written or directed? Oh well, when it finally comes time to start thinning out humanities gene pool of all the muck at the bottom we now have a list of prime candidates.
I was worried about this one shortly after it began, other than the idea of a big green muscle bound monster and the name the HULK, that is as close as this movie got to the original comic book. I have no idea what in the world Marvel was thinking when they approved the script for this one. Maybe they were with SJ on a trip to Jamaica enjoying the local nightlife when they did the concept read of the script, at least that explanation I can live with. ;) If anyone who works for Marvel in management is reading this now, I suggest that you go drink the arsenic now, before you are lynched by comic enthusiast around the world.
The CGI was, what we have come to expect from CGI. As an art form it is still in its early stages, and as time goes by they will vastly improve their skill with this new modern movie making tool. Yet it did work well, when scaled against the backdrop of normal actors and a live backdrop to show just how incredibility LARGE the Hulk is and can get, when he is angered. The movie could have done without the ever popular leftist drivel of antigovernment and all corporations are insidiously evil. Hollywood needs to wake up and get a new program. Now for the funny or bright spots: Berkley University, classic it is only to bad that they destroyed a single science building versus the entire campus. Yet another Classic, the cost effective move of casting Nick Noltie: it cost them nothing for make-up or script modifications. They took Nick straight from jail for his recent arrest for illegal drug position and just let him ramble on about what ever. It was classic. Least I forget the best part of the whole movie…
----- SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER -----
The hulk fighting the mutant hulk dogs was too funny. I have to admit I did get a hoot out of that bit, and an attack poodle none the less…
----- END SPOILER -----

In a nutshell, I consider this a sad attempt at a movie. I suggest that if you wish to see this movie, you just sent me the eight dollars and find a nice book to read for two hours, and then you will never regret wasting a valuable block of time in your already extremely busy and to short life. This is a great example of what a comic conversion to the big screen SHOULD NOT BE!!!!!!!

Nuff said…

Hey and I have the same offer.

*still shaking head*

heheh heh

It's funny, cuz you guys are accusing me of hitting the "green" too much.

Still must be high by the way, cuz I still think it was pretty damn good.

The Hulk was a brilliantly crafted, directed, acted, and executed movie. One of my favourites of all time. I have no clue what you others have been smoking but give it up for a week then go see the Hulk again, cause it was amazing.

Note from the Management:

Please consider that the above two consecutive posters are from Canada, that should help explain a lot for those of you playing along at home.

:D :D :D

*Orders SUDS (Serum & Urine Drug Screens) on the canadian posters*

I STILL get nightmares over the movie.

man I've been thinking about this several times throughout the day, and I still say I really liked that movie. If it didn't do it for you guys it's all good.

fave scene: *********SPOILERS*************

when he's cleaning the fog off that mirror, that was a pretty sweet visual metaphor

Err... NO. It was a bad ATTEMPT at a sweet visual metaphor.

And what's with the swimming jellyfish and the split screen wipes?

that was to make it like a living comic book man. must have given the storyboard artist a few headaches, but I liked it.
