Angua tentatively dips a toe into the forum.

Boo

Like minded souls at last. Good to meet you all and look forward to getting to know you.

Best,

Angua

Thanks for the suggestions, Bond and Snow. Bond, I think your assessment is fairly accurate, but I just couldn't take it any longer. I honestly couldn't sit around trying to find my next series knowing that I was avoiding one of the finest (arguably the finest) authors in fantasy literature. I started Game of Thrones this weekend and I'm about a third of the way through. I'll check in to the fantasy boards when it's time to come up for air. :)

Hi everyone. Just popping in to say Hello and share the good cheer. This looks like a nice place to stop off and put my feet (or fingers) up.

I'm from So Calif, but hoping to escape to greener pastures some day - preferably much greener. (Although that which is not currently under water or mud is very green here at the moment). For now, though, the job and family keep me here in the asphalt zone, so I'll just have to escape through the pages of someone else's fantasy (or sci fi) novel until my physical being can rejoin with its better half somewhere more to my liking.

Hope you're all staying warm and dry this winter, curled up in front of the fire with some good books. I'm relatively new to fantasy, so if anyone has suggestions for a good one, please let me know. (Something that is not all sword swinging - maybe a little more in the philosophical direction - any suggestions would be highly appreciated.)

Hey, Aegon. I don't know about Fantasy, but Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny is very philosophical (classed as sci-fi), you might want to check it out ;)

Hi Aegon, hope you enjoy this forum.
(Hihi, Aegon is also the name of a power company, did you know that?)

Just what I was looking for! Not only philosophical, but Eastern philosophy at that. Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely put it on my list. :)

Actually, it's also the name of a giant insurance company, but it just sounded like a great fantasy name to me - so I took it! :D

Hello everybody :D

I`m a fresh member to this exelent site, and look forward to start using it. I have already spent ours creeping around, sneaking a peak AT YOU people.
It looks good!

I have read all of Terry Pratchetts books, a devoted fan..love, love, love.
Other favourits: Tad Williams (especially Otherworld), China Mieville, Glen Cook, Robert Rankin (ah..kill me), Douglas Adams and many more.

It gives me great pleasure to discover new, great authors. I have already found many promising tips at sffworld.

Good night ;)

Hi everyone, I'm newly registered, but have been lurking for a while. I'm from the south of England and spend too much time reading fantasy and neglecting my studies; in fact I should be revising right now... Oh well, look forward to talking to all of you.

What part of the south?

As for neglecting studies...don't get me started! ;)

Yapp... exam the day after tomorrow. Not a good time to find this site, or to get a laptop for the first time.

Thanks for welcoming me, nice to meet you all. :)

Southampton, It's not the funnest place to live, but it's bearable.

I almost ended up going to University there!

I didn't like how the halls of residence was so far away from the town though. :(

Thats where I'm studying at the moment. Funny you should mention the distance to town, I walked there from the uni yesterday, my easily-tired feet were aching by the end of it.
