Hello,

I have not read through this thread, but I thought I'd intorduce myself here as requested.

I'm a long time lurker around here and thought I might want to start posting.

I won't be one of those massive post-count people. In the couple of forums I belong to, I mostly read. I'm not the kind of person that has loads of interesting things to say.

Anyway, here I am, and hopefully you'll see some posts from me now and then.

:D

Hi I'm Esme (named for Terry Pratchett's Granny Weatherwax, the fictional character I'd most like to be like). I'm a compulsive reader with a taste for fantasy.
I'm from a really beautiful country called South Africa.
Am loving this forum so far, I apologise for any faux pas' while I'm new, but I'll try my hardest to learn the etiquette.
Anyway, thanks for a great space to connect with like-minded people.

Welcome Esme - and don't worry about putting your foot in it, it is my natural state of being! I love Granny Weatherwax too, nothing like a bit of headology to set people straight.

Nice to meet everyone. Calliope is my alias, so I suppose that means my nickname is Callie. Whichever one corresponds to easier recognition for you.

Apart from the occasional threat to my claim of maturity as a thirteen-year-old, nothing in particular provokes my passive-aggressiveness, so I hope to be an exemplary forum member. I am still young, and of course, in a struggle to savor as much as it as I can before I become (it's an inevitable eventuality) a jaded, cynical, caffeine-addict of an adult. I want to be a writer. And, most likely, I'll be a lurker here, unless someone's stupidity forces me to march myself over to a thread and display some of my own foolishness.. or if they try to interfere with my refusal to surrender any part of my identity to society and like monstrosities.

As for life offline and in character - which is of questionable relevance when not related to Reading, Writing, or Thinking, my hobbies - well, as long as I continue to produce practised facial expressions and ninety-percent averages, I'm free to do as I please. I'm an avid fantasy reader, but soon to progress onto other things, once I can defend a right to a master's status of the genre. I like the discussions here, and hopefully sffworld will become another extension of my already perfected procrastination methods. I never get homework done. Or anything else, really. I'd love to fit in here - I'm an excellent conformist, as well. Hmm, what to say about me... I lack commitment, perserverence, determination only where it concerns such trivials things as school, and "success". I have notoriously wild ideals, all fault to fantasy, and I'm never quite satisfied with reality. All of these should add up to one miserable countenance, but I actually have a naturally happy personality. No credit whatsoever to environment and upbringing (which is unfortunately a sarcastic truth). I have no ill-conceived notions about my comprehension of the phrase too-much-information, so please excuse me... as well as my being overly-verbose. Also a past-time of mine.

Hi, my name is wwfward and Im new here. I joined because I wanted to join an online sff writing group in this forum. For those interested, head to the Writing forum under the headline SFF Workshop.

I mainly read science fiction, fantasy, and lately, thrillers. I also read the Greek classics.

Yeah hi

Alright so I just saw this thread and I'm bored so I'll introduce myself. I'm Esmenet (Yes it's named from Bakker's novels who isn't my favorite but I do love the name). I'm not sure if I'm the youngest on this website or not but I sure feel like I am. I have NO clue why I never discovered this site before, but it is probably becuase I was engrossed in sfbookcase, which was made up entirely of whining 12 year olds. I'm a sophmore in highschool, and it is against my parents better judgement that I post on here. They're both comptuer programmers so they think everyone online is a 40 year old petafile. :) Anyways, I've been an avid fantasy reader since I was 9 years old, when Harry Potter first came out. My first fantasy book was the Hobbit, which I very much enjoyed. Other than that, I spend most of my time trying not to get grounded, and reading. :) Aside from getting suspended this week, but that wasn't my fault. Wrapping this up, this is definatly one of the best websites for fantasy that i've been to. I've discovered many new authors so thanks everyone!

I stand corrected on the age thing. You my friend, are very much like me :) I want to be a writer to, although realistically I will be an English teacher.

Hello all...I don't frequent these forums much even though I'd registered long back...just happened to today and saw some interesting threads :) ...Well I'm talonx - (the name partly being a remnant of the times when I used to be a fan of Wolverine of the X-Men)...As for books I buy more than I read, mostly science fiction but also on really random subjects.
Hope I'll be more active on these boards from now on :) ...

Hi everyone,

My name is Marcel, though the nickname I use on most forums is mag74b I made a typing error while registering here, which I hope the administrators will be kind enough to correct.
As for my reasons to visit this forum it is simple I am addicted to reading, mainly humorous sff and other humorous books, if I can't find anything in these categories I like I read mostly regular sff. So I decided (since after 6 years I finally have internet at home again) it was time for me to join a forum on sff.
I mainly hope to get some good ideas for books to read while surfing this forum, while also being able to discuss some of the books I have read.

Welcome to all the new people I hope you enjoy it here. Yes some of the older members do now and then look at this thread and say hi back. Have a good time.

Hello!

Hello everyone!

I am a science fiction and fantasy fanatic!!! I am from Toronto, Canada and I am an aspiring film maker. I love storytelling and the endless boundaries of the imagination. I look forward to being a part of and contributing to this community. Cheers!

Hi Folks!

I can't believe the last time I was on here was August 2005! Oh well, I won't make the same mistake again...
I love reading fantasy (currently loving 'Shadowplay' to pieces) so I reckon I'll be mostly on the fantasy forum. Hope to meet you guys around :)

hey guys =) i'm hoping to find an outlet for my writing, but i want to get a few things out of the way.

first and foremost: Plagarism

what does this site do to prevent this? i've heard of many instances of this happening all across the internet and don't want the same thing happen to me.

second,

if the aabove is well regulated and whatnot, then i hope to recieve feedback on story structure etc.

now that's out of the way...

Rayen (username) , age 17, California. reads just about eveything, writes sci-fi/ fantasy for a hobby. have two novels in progress, one on hiatus; because the 2nd one is so much more fun to write.
that's it, and i hope that my time here is well spent.

Greetings all! New member here!

Let's see... Well, unsurprisingly, I'm a big movie/book fan, and love science fiction and fantasy. No surprises there then! I enjoy drawing and painting as well (Even have something in a Gallery at the moment, for the first time in my life!) I also enjoy writing, haven't had anything published, and... well, I'm sure you'll find out what I'm like when I start posting on the boards! ;-)

Nice to meet you, everyone! I look forward to chatting! :D

Hello all,

My name is Jaltinder. Anyway I signed up on SFFworld because I need you're help (all of you). I will be asking a question regarding Ender's Game in the Science Fiction forum.

I have to write an essay about Ender's Game and I don't really know what to write about. I have a specific topic that is regarding the relationships between adults and children and what does Card say about it.

So if you can help me out, it would be appreciated. Check the Science Fiction forum soon for my post, or I will update here if I can too.

Thanks folks!
