Wow, I grew up on the Hardy Boys - but being in the UK meant that no one else had heard of them!!

Solaar
likes to think he's Biff

No-one else heard of them? I'll have you know that I have at least a half dozen books with them in, hell I even read Nancy Drew aswell

wonders if he should have admitted to that one

Probably not.

Solaar
can't remember if he read the Drew/Hardy collaborations

*Slaps himself for his stupidity* but then - *redeems himself by adding that he only read the Nancy Drew collaborations with the Hardy boys and not her own books*

hopes he's sneaked out of that one

Ah, hell's bell's, I know this is an obvious question, but what is that?

It just occurred to me that this thread is no longer a possiblility. As little time as Juzz spends here these days, he definitely IS NOT trying to take over the forum.

(Way to get us back on topic. ::snort:: :D )

Written by Arthur Ransome, Swallows and Amazons is the best series of childrens books ever written. (Possible exclusion of the Pyrdain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander and the Narnia books by Lewis, but I digress...) The books are about chilluns having adventures together--mostly revolving around holidays, piracy/conservation (the two are linked, I think ;) ), and small sailing craft (but not all).

I read those Prydain books. (most of 'em anyway)

Can't remember much about them except Taran and Fllewder. (a Fllam never falters)

Well, I remember there were cauldron-born and Huntsmen of Annuvin for villains, a prince named Gydion and that it was based on some old Celtic myths or something. Pretty neat stories when I was a kid though.

Enjoyed swallows and amazons when I was yonger

Also - I pretty much read every single:
3 investigators
Nancy Drew
Hardy Boys
Famous 5
Secret 7
Cronicles of Narnia
Rohl Dahl book
Usborne Puzzle adventures (different authors)
Willard Price book- tiger adventure, safari adventure, diving adventure etc.
Quite a lot of the choose your own adventure books

Superted book (this was when I was very young)
Big Banana book (they were a publisher in the 80s- their stories have now been reprinted under different publishers in the UK)

loved those books

Ironically- only now am I reading treaure island- and it's top notch entertainment so far. Gullivers travels and black arrow next.
Only did LOTR this summer (3rd attempt in 5 yrs).

Bah- someone help me out here had a nagging thought just come to me

TV show, uk 1980s. Postman pat style, only set in a toy factory. No it wasn't raggy dolls. It wasn't batfink. Not button moon.

oh 2nd tv show-

There was a totem pole- an eagle stood on a bear on a turtle. The person in charge of an amulet would use it, and the totem came apart, and the animals would whoop butt on the bad guys

They're both driving me crazy trying to remember what they were called.

NO! Don't think that... it's like when suddenly you realie your four year old is quiet you know they must be getting into something. His attack must be coming soon!

He may be away amassing an army or getting money to fund that army ;)

Juzz is probably just preparing battle plans for the Two Towers as there's less than a month to go now.

Not yet, I may see what happens in the ensuing melee before I pick my side - I hate losing. Yep you can pre-order two towers tickets now from what I gather, I really can't wait :D
