I was the same on Mr. Robot. Perhaps if I had been binge watching it, I would feel differently. When season 2 came out, I just had no interest in continuing. I am open to giving it a shot at some point though.

This shows has layers. There are elements to notice, or be completely surprised by, as the seasons progress. I thought it was gracefully done, and a lot of fun. Then, at the end, there's an extra twist.
I did binge-watch it, though. I'm not certain I could have kept track if I'd had to wait for S2.

I wonder now if a show like this, (and perhaps many shows) are actually produced with a binge watching audience in mind!
Binge watching a show like this, is close to the sensation of reading a book...

I also know there are people whose notion of credibilty was stretched by the relationship of the central character with Mr Robot, and pulled out when Mr Robot interacted with characters by himself. If they had stuck around long enough, they would have seen that explained plausibly!

Yes, they are. The quality is very good indeed.

Watched the first episode of Warrior Nun on Netflix. Better than I thought it would be, though there are definitely clunky moments. Gloriously silly. I gather a second series has already been announced:

What is at the root of this American fetish for superpowers? I'd like to know.

Used to be kids wanting power in a basically powerless life.
Now I think that while there is certainly still some of that, the trend is anti-establishment. People identifying with characters who can strike out and take on the norms and ththose in control.
Same thing that fosters protests. Not injustice exactly, but a rejection of things as they are.

Taste the Nation, with Padma Lakshmi. It's on American HULU.
Europeans certainly have the diversity of people of different backgrounds, but in the USA it's everybody. Even those who were here first and the earliest Europeans in America had the culture of a minority bumping into others. Except for those who got conquered we're all immigrants here.
Lakshmi was raised with Indian family cookery. She tours America and visits Gullah (the most traditional African-American culture) Mexican, German, First Nations, Peruvian, Chinese, Thai, Persian, Japanese, and of course Asian Indian America in ten episodes.
Although food is the entry into each culture and it is impossible to not drool at the sight and experience of the repasts, the show is really about, the backgrounds and cultures of Americans of all stripes. And given the nativism exemplified by the piece of ---- in office in Washington, it is profoundly political. Hope that it gets to Europe as it might give insights into the US not usually broadcast.

Also watching CHEERS. I need humor.

just stumbled on this one as I added HBOMAX to my streaming services (I dropped DirecTV entirely and get my local TV news via their web page and the streaming services I pay for are a tiny fraction of what my DirecTV bill was.

I enjoyed the origin one in most areas enough to add watching one or two a week becoming part of my weekly line up of TV.... somewhat cheezy special effects (the blob monster was hilarious in its look of low budget monster of 1950s Saturday afternoon movies) but a good cast... Has anyone binged the whole thing? how does the series hold up?

There is no fetish with superpowers. Americans in general always dream of doing something beyond the ordinary. Kids in particular enjoy seeing people doing amazing things. They are just waking up to their own potential and want to do amazing things. That's it. Plus good art and story.

I’m looking forward to watching Lovecraft Country on HBO, they just dropped the second full trailer and it looks great. Seems to be fairly true to the book by Matt Ruff, which I highly recommend. I read it earlier this year to get ready for the series. The series will premier on HBO and HBOMax August 16th.

Nothing's really inspiring me TV show-wise at the moment, so starting to re-watch Breaking Bad. Such a great show.

..and finished! 5 seasons, 62 episodes. Very enjoyable overall, and a satisfying (if neat, apart from what happens to Jessie, which we find it out El Camino) ending.

I started Better Call Saul years ago and stopped, might have to restart this again, after a break.

I tried to rewatch the whole of Breaking Bad twice and couldn't do it. I like Better Call Saul better and am also planning to rewatch every season in the near future. As a fan of Breaking Bad seasons 4 and 5 of Saul should be a lot of fun for you.
