What games are you playing?

Part of me is looking forward to Space Marine, but I can't get the demo unless I jump through some hoops, and I really can't be bothered, especially as I won't be able to afford the game for some time.

It's good that you seemed to enjoy it a little. I'm in two minds about it, so the more I hear the better.

I will keep you posted then! We're probably going to set up an online deathmatch team and everything.

Just started Bulletstorm - seems fun if very heavily on-rails shooter, it's fun discovering the new kill types and one or two set-pieces are pretty spectacular. Looking forward to using the long weekend to crack on with this and possibly Assassins Creed: Brotherhood.

I managed to get hold of the demo on PC yesterday, and I had a good crack at it. Holy cheese biscuits, that's one fun but violent game. It's very high quality, too, which I didn't expect, but then again Relic are a very PC-centric developer so I suppose it's to be expected. But the feedback in combat is just superb! I think it's best described as a more frantic and violent version of the combat from Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Well, I'd say it's fairly linear but with some moments of more open terrain. It is pretty fun, though, especially later on when you've got access to all the weapons and their charged shots. There's some excellent dialogue in it, though, and the game is worth playing for that alone.

They must not have happened yet then because so far it's been the most god awful cliche tough guy script I've ever seen :D

It's not frequent during the start, but once you get to meet Trishka, the script just goes into overdrive with the hilarity.

I played the Space Marine demo a couple more times and with familiarity I'm really loving it. It is different from Arkham Asylum though, there's no counter mechanic. I have to get myself to to react to everything the orks do by killing more of them instead of thinking like I'm going to block their moves somehow (maybe you find a storm shield later on?) Great stuff though, that game is going to rock. You should join our team sometime Loerwyn!

Due to a strained relationship with Windows Live I have to redo Arkham Asylum so I'm doing it on Hard mode this time. I think I am stuck though. I just got the cryptographic sequencer but when I get to the room where Harley has the two guards tied up over the electrocuted water my sequencer doesn't seem to reach far enough to hack the control box. I basically have to get into the electrocuted water and blow the box out but by the time I do that and it does the animation of showing the power go out under the guards I'm dead. It's so goddamn annoying, I'm only like 300 points away from being able to get the extra range sequencer on the Waynetech menu but I have no way to get the points I need since I can't leave the building. Trying to make something work, that should work but will only work in a way that inevitably kills you while being mercilessly taunted by Harley Quinn is pretty nightmarish. Hopefully it was just a glitch, I'll try again this morning and see if I can get it to work, otherwise I don't know what I'm going to do.

Oddly enough, I'm playing Arkham Asylum too. I've just got to the point where I'm about to meet the Scarecrow for the first time.

I think Space Marine had that same sort of flow to its combat, although as you rightly said, there's no real counter mechanic. It's still got that excellent flow to it, however.

Completed Bulletstorm, it was fairly challenging on hard - that plant boss was disproportionately difficult it seemed - the ending was meh but overall the game was fun if repetitive. Wouldn't go back to it though.

I've bee playing LOTRO since it's free up to lvl 60. It's a little boring, though. I'm waiting for TOR and Skyrim to come out. I don't have much to play until they do!

Okay I was mistaken about being stuck, I had missed a control box... oops. I've since finished the game, I'm about 95% complete and I think I have about 43 out of 47 achievements. Now I'm watching a lot of preview vids for Arkham City. Wow. The Penguin trailer alone would have me frothing at the mouth for this game.

I was already utterly sold, I have the special edition on order :), but the Mr Freeze trailer would have totally done for me also.

You mean the Best Buy one where Robin is playable in challenge mode?

You guys are killing me. If I get back into gaming, it will be just so that I can play B:AA and B:AC.

Don't do it, dude. There's so much more time to read without all that gaming stuff....

Agreed. However, AA was Game of the Year and now to see how sick AC looks (should never have looked at the friggin' trailer)...it starts to pull at me. Must...not...shop...for...360...urk.

I play on my new pc I built, blows my ps3 out of the water graphics wise. It did give me a reason to own a piece of Xbox equipment though, I kind of like the 360 controller.
