Ooooo this is getting scary. The Aussies are all crawling out of the woodwork. They are beginning to seem the majority on this board! And it's your fault Giarc!

Well, here's another one. I come from Sydney, Australia, but not the one you saw on the TV for the Olympics. I live in wonderful suburbia, and therefore escape to the beaches of Wollongong as often as possible. I have noticed a predominance of Aussies on this board - we should probably start up a new thread to discuss/ponder why that is... our superior taste? our desire for escapism? finding a place to publicly rubbish the Kiwis (again)???

Please tell me you are not one of the south beach parade in lowered car with massive exhaust and speakers the size of a small house...

Eventine, I'm definitely not one of those you refer to! We get them at Sydney, too, especially in places like Brighton-le-sands (or however you spell it). But seriously, do you think any of them can read?

I don't go to the beach to be seen, I go to the beach because of the sun and surf - and I go to Wollongong because their beaches put polluted Sydney beaches to shame.
 
Australia's latest great contribution to the world of beer is aptly named 'Piss'. I kid you not! It is at my local bottle store and it has a website.
 
I have never heard of this "Piss". Aussies do call their alcohol piss however, leading to such phrases as "a night out on the piss"

DennizM is here, and I have just made a post on the other topic about Fosters... but here goes...

The Fosters we have in the UK is actually brewed over here, and it is far far better than in Oz (yes... I have been there). it is considered one of the better draught beers over here, and Fosters Export is very good.

Castlemaine XXXX is awful over here, but in Oz it is brilliant IMHO. The first time I ordered in an Ozzy pub, they took the beer glass out of the 'cooler', and it made the beer taste bloody good... erm... to good as it turned out *hic*

A friend of mine visited Pakistan a couple of years back, Shehzad. Was asked by customs if he had any alcohol (he didn't). Then was asked if he had any hash (marijuana). He said no. The customs guy then asked if he wanted any and tried to sell him a big block of the stuff! Too funny
